Version: Trend Micro HijackThis 2.0.2
"A detailed anti-spyware tool."
Pros: It generates a detailed list of suspicious items.
Cons: However, it takes an expert to decide what should be removed. Not for the beginner.

It provides a detailed list of ALL items running/installed/registered in specific computer areas that are the areas most often infected by malware, not a list of SUSPICIOUS items. Only the user can decide if an item in the list is suspect. MOST if not ALL of the items it finds will be necessary, essential, useful items that should be added to the Ignore List (if you don't want to have to look through all of them each time you run HijackThis - highly recommended).

This is NOT an anti-spyware tool, it is only used to see what your computer is running. It offers NO protection or anything other than viewing what is going on in the background. Go to any anti-virus website and they will tell you to download HiJackThis and post what it says is running. They even have the option to see if you need to leave it alone or not. In lamens terms, it is an "advanced Task Manager."
The original user that posted this review is obviously incoherent and plainly declared this an "anti-spyware tool" when it is nothing close to that. -
You kind of pointed out the obvious. It's made for experts to remove spyware their way instead of using a spyware remover. But if you don't know how to use it, then the company even recommends not to if you're not an expert. I don't see why it needs a 3 star rating when it does the job perfectly, if you know how to work it..
