It does search through and finds programs which may have milicious intent.
Cons
At least in my case, it found only programs that I installed or that were 100% legit. Basically it wasted my time. I would not recommend downloading unless you feel something may be wrong. Use spybot and a virus program instead.

an absolute winner among a lot of freewares and payable ones. It should be on every computer as an indispensable tool. Instead of millions of downloads there should be tens of millions of downloads. CNET must update the hijackthis version because now there is version 2.0.2

Gives you control on what goes on in your PC. You can stop an app from doing what you don't want it to do
Cons
This is one of those apps which is very useful for those who know how to use it but it can be fatal in the hands of a newbie. One shot fired and your PC would need medical help. lol.

I tried HighJackThis & recieved an Error message #52. The answer given was to send a letter to merijn@spywareinfo.com. If you do the same you will find ,like I did, that you ip doesn't like this address?
