If you're looking to get away from your jam-packed browser program, TreeBrowse's stark interface might be a welcome sight at first. That is, until you start using it and the design flaws become all too apparent.
TreeBrowse utilitarian interface includes a blank panel on the left of the screen for links and the main view panel on the right side. The home page is a reference list that offers pointers on how to use the program, but you may have trouble reading the tiny, hard-to-read typeface. Instead of navigational buttons, each Web page that you visit is added to the tree menu so that you can click on the exact page that you want. The tree-menu entries ran off the left side of the page, though, and resizing the browser window didn't help. There's a scroll bar at the bottom, but it was annoying to have to scroll over to access the links. You'll also lose your search history when you close the program. Hitting Ctrl F9 is supposed to let you export the tree-menu links, but nothing happened when we tried this feature. Finally, not all sites support TreeBrowse. When we visited Yahoo to check our e-mail, we received a message that the site didn't support our current browser.
Simple can be beautiful, but not in this case. We can't recommend TreeBrowse as a replacement or upgrade browser program.
