Total Recorder Developer Edition is an edition of Total Recorder that allows you to integrate the audio and video capabilities of Total Recorder (such as recording, editing, converting, and playing of media data) with other applications. With the Developer Edition, you can record from any combination of video and audio sources, including output of another audio application in Software mode. Total Recorder Developer Edition provides COM interfaces so that all of its functions can be invoked programmatically from within another program (e.g. C/C++, C#, VB, or Java programs) or from within a script (e.g. VB Script, JavaScript, or Perl) rather than interactively. The program package contains additional documentation and sample code (C++, C#, Visual Basic and JavaScript) for writing applications that can control Total Recorder through COM facilities. You can also enhance Total Recorder functionality with some additional add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.

"I was a bit confused by the publisher

Pros
The description of this one befuddled me. On what other softwears do the functions have to be " be invoked programmatically from within"? Does it involve wizardry of some type or a crystal ball?
Cons
I am a classically trained musician of 40 years and a recording artist for 30. I'm familiar with almost all the software out there. But a visit to the web site was in order tor this one. Nothing rang a bell. Nothing.
Summary
I got to the web site and found a paragraph about multi channeling. Now I knew I was in the right place! Then it went on to talk about recording high quality court room proceedings. WOOPS! Not only that, it said you can keep your personal information and testimony there with a password, and feel confident! OH MY
And it finished up by metioning a final selling point of video synchrynation, no voodoo involved, for that wonderful day when your public defender shows up with threads from good will for you to flaunt during your testimony. You gotta record that with a quality instrument, yes? OF COURSE!!!! -
