"Assigns you a random IP address. Encrypts web traffic"
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.3.25-1
Full anon, as long as you obey the basic rules of TOR. Access to multiple less-than-legal sites where you can buy and sell without worry of the law.
Rather slow, but understandable as all traffic is encrypted. Many previously up sites, have been shut down. .Onion sites are finicky and may or may not return a result, may need to refresh to send data again to achieve result.
Isnt as simple as point and click, as some idiotic, sophomoric, simple minded individuals who have previously written reviews on here might want, because they expect everything to be handed to them, without effort, and to work the very first time.
Good browser if you are looking to be invisible, as long as you have not enabled global scripting, and JAVA.
Its not claiming to be fast, so why expect it to be? Its claiming to be secure, which it is. As long as you dont post your physical address, there is no way you will be uncovered, doing whatever dirty work you are, because your IP is randomly assigned.
"Slow and you have to find where it installed."
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.2.39-5
Can't think of any.
It didn't finish the installation. It unzipped into a directory, but you then had to find the directory. Once found, you could start the program manually. Even very small sites took the better part of a minute to load, which is about dialup speed.
While it may or may not be useful for security, I'd hate to actually have to do something useful with it because it's like working with 55k dialup.
"No need to download."
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.2.39-3
It does what it says but it can't be from the navy or it would not be released to the public.
It wants to download fun mood and fun mood toolbar fun mood is a virus. According to WOT it contains malicious content. and even if you check don't install it will install a fun moods add on.
In my opinion you don't need to download get do not track plus and use ixquick and you'll be good to go.
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.2.39-3
SLOW....OH!.....Did I mention SLOW? Lot's of pages will not even load making it useless.
If you think you are Anonymous I got a bridge to sell you....Unless you somehow are a Great programmer and make your OWN Server on another planet THEN you may be anonymous... No one is "Anonymous" in this world anymore.
*Remember the internet was built by the military first... AND just like even CNET editor said... TOR "Once a secret project of the U.S. Naval Research Lab".
If the USA builds a secret weapon, You better believe they also built counter measures, in case the enemy creates their own.
"Pros definitely outweigh the cons"
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.2.39-1
Unblocks all websites
Overcomes IP bans
Accessed Facebook from school as a test run.
Google cannot recognize your IP and makes you fill in some bogus information to access it.
Does not work automatically with magnet links.
It is great. It works 90% of the time and as long as you use it right it's nearly hassle free. Even the cons there are loopholes for.
many search engines will work the same as Google without this hassle
and Open magnet links in new tab and copy the URL into your torrent client. DO NOT RUN ANY DOWNLOADS FROM THIS AS IT CAN COMPROMISE YOUR SECURITY, THAT TOR GIVES YOU.

"Tor is great!"
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.2.37-1
This browser works like a charm. Sites that use my IP address to verify that it is really me (banks, credit card companies, etc.), now ask me that 'secret question' every time I log on. I highly recommend using Tor to hide your identity and therefore not be tracked, something that I find extremely distasteful and an invasion of my privacy.
After a few months of use, there are no cons to mention.
"spot on recommend"
Version: Tor Browser Bundle 2.2.35-5
my ip barred the pirate bay,no problem with tor
