"Wanted to Love it, quickly had to Leave it!"

November 4, 2006  |   By Just Passing Through

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Pros

Anyone who deals with real priorities is meddling with disaster with this program. See cons.

    Cons

We run a REAL business. Individual and group priorities that we set are REAL WORLD priorities. If we set action A as having priority over action B, **it must get that priority in our scheduling**.

Time To at first seems to do this for you, but WATCH OUT!! It freely jumbles not just your schedule, but your actual PRIORITIES as well.

At first, things looked great. We entered some tasks and some set appointments, and Time To scheduled them for us. Not a perfect schedule, but respectable, legitimate. There is a very nice priorities view, with a very easy drag and release priority setting. It works great. Or so it seems:

On further use, entering routine tasks totally jumbled the priorities we had set. It was suspicious that we were not allowed to enter a priority for the routine items at the time of entry. Then, to our great surprise, we found that they had **REPLACED** the priority items at the top of our list.

"Emergency attention to project A110" was replaced as our #1 priority with, and this is not a joke, "Weekly watering of plant in reception area".

When we tried to overcome this by using the "Expected Return" feature, total chaos followed:

Our carefully ordered list of priorities was TOTALLY REPLACED by the 'expected return' value for any item. The program thereafter entirely blocked our ability to manually alter any item's priority! Turning off the 'expected return' function did NOT restore our priorities.

Also, there is *ABSOLUTELY NO* provision or function in Time To to set up projects and project tasks. EVERYTHING IS A TASK IN SOME GLOBAL MASTER PROJECT. Don't be fooled by the ability to 'mark' a task as belonging to a project. The "project" view is a total sham-- you cannot move, edit, view, or otherwise do *ANYTHING* with the tasks. It merely lists (slowly) the tasks which you have 'tagged' under any 'project'.

"The best (bar none) Time Management Program available!"

    September 3, 2005  |   By bkmj.hughes

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Pros

TimeTo stands head and shoulders above the rest of the pack of Time Management programs. I have tried many Time Management programs and with the exception of TimeTo, they all require a lot of time to manage reshuffling your tasks and appointments (kinda inronic, isn't it?)

Once you set up your tasks and appointments in TimeTo, this program does the rest, automatically rescheduling tasks that don't have hard deadlines. Prioritizing your projects and related tasks is a breeze.

Furthermore, it is one of the most stable Windows-based programs that I have ever used. If that isn't enough, it will run 100% from a USB memory stick so that TimeTo can be completely portable, plugging it into any Windows-based PC that has a USB port.

One of the best things about this program is it's developer, David Berman. He is extremely responsive to user input and is actively developing this program.

    I highly recommend it!

    Cons

The only thing that I would like to see added is a companion Pocket PC version, as it is not practical for me to carry a laptop everywhere that I go.

"The best time management program you could buy"

    August 4, 2005  |   By myotisone

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Pros

I have used A&B for almost 10 years and TimeTo builds and improves on A&B. During this time I have tried many other programs (see cons) but this has always been associated with a drop in productivity and I keep on coming back to A&B, and now TimeTo.

TimeTo uses a sophisticated dynamic scheduling tool that uses deadlines, priorities and task commitments to match tasks and appointments with the available time. This means that your next action always surfaces to the top of your Todo list.

Well designed calendar views, include views where different colours are used to show how busy you are likely to be on any future day.

It has good search and filtering tools allowing easy focus on specific categories or roles.

Quick and easy entry of new tasks and appointments allow you to throw tasks into TimeTo with little effort: ready to tidy up during daily or weekly reviews. You can also add full task details at the initial entry time, but the quick way minimises disruption to the task you are working on.

    Time logging and reporting tools.

Developer is very responsive to requests for help and modification to the program.

    Cons

The developer is actively working on all of the points raised below so when you read this, these cons may already be out of date.

Limited contact management tools, but can be set up to work fairly well with Outlook, and possibly other programs.

Limited Palm sync capability and no Outlook sync (which is now a common standard for many PIM type programs).

Limited project planning tools, there is an outline view that shows tasks linked to projects, but this needs expanded to allow projects/tasks to be fully edited, added and re-structured.

    "Unmatched program!"

    June 29, 2005  |   By ruwanthi

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Pros

Loved the program - have been searching for a time management program for months, and have only come up with those which make you spend more time trying to figure out how to save time. Has a lot of features not available in others, like reports on tasks done and time spent on projects, really intelligent scheduling and flexibility which allow for haphazard days - like allowing for interruption time, bringing tasks forward, splitting large tasks into different time blocks and allowing you to give tasks a flexible due period so that the program can schedule the work by analyzing your priorities and other tasks - alleviates the stress of trying to figure out when and how to do things - the schedule moves with you through unpredictable events, instead of forcing you to fit the schedule

    Cons

Great program but needs a little more extensive help files - because it has so many features, it is easy to miss out on some of them if you depend on the help files alone; also interface could be a little more smoother - otherwise really great program

    "Powerful time management tool"

    May 23, 2005  |   By Second Opinion

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Pros

TimeTo (nee Above&Beyond) is a useful and feature-packed time management tool for home as well as corporate users. David Berman (the current developer) takes over Above&Beyond where 1soft Corporation left off. This is the only tool of its kind that features dynamic scheduling which intelligently manages your time when you fall behind schedule or when you have to handle interruptions.

    Cons

The User interface needs a makeover. Visually not so appealing, this power-packed tool could be the best in its class with some attractive graphical design. Also, it could do with a better address book and some email integration.

"Perfect, The only Dynamic Real Time Time Management Tool"

    January 28, 2005  |   By dchesloc

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Pros

This tool helped me become more discipline with time management. The dynamic aspect of the software allows the software; given the parameters you have set, to continually update your schedule. It allows you to link tasks, create prerequisites for tasks, time and put a cost to tasks. It is a superb tool for those of us who seem to have more to do than the hour’s available.

    "must-have software"

    January 26, 2005  |

    Version: TimeTo 1.0

    Summary

The only software I know that usefully manages your to do list (intelligently) and appointments.

Appointments are easy – most agenda-type software handle them well. TimeTo does a great job with appointments too.

Where TimeTo really shines is in managing your to do list. It actually understands that items on your to do list take some time to complete. It dynamically schedules them into your day, so when you change the priority of a task or its due date, your schedule changes accordingly.

I can finally figure out how much I can reasonable get done in a day, and which specific tasks will have to wait for another day.

As you learn how to use this program, you will also learn better methods of managing your time.

It takes some time to learn, but that time will be paid back quickly as when you finally get a handle on your day!
