TimeMachineScheduler 3.1.2 for Mac User Reviews
-
"Works as advertised"
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.1.1
Pros
Does what I need it to do, which is a weekly, timed backup.
Cons
None that I can see.
Summary
I've been using this program for years, through all its incarnations, and it has always worked as I need it to. Almost everyone's particular system—extensions, add-on's, menu bar items—is different, so perhaps those who find the program bombs or doesn't work have running items that conflict with it. Maybe in this sense the program ought to be more robust, but it's hard to pin the blame on it or the item(s) that it conflicts with.

"useful app"
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.0.2
Pros
does what it says
Cons
none I can detect
Summary
Simple program that does what it says. Useful utility especially if your backups take a long time. TM's default one hour interval is too frequent. TM scheduler also allows you to turn off backups during a defined interval (eg. overnight) which saves space on backup disc.

"Works as described"
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.0.2
Pros
Installation easy and flawless. Scheduler is very flexible and easy to use. My USB backup drive shared from my Airport Extreme seems to mount more reliably than without the scheduler program (No failed backups since installing this program).
Cons
None as yet.
Summary
I am pleased to be able to set times for backup using Time Machine. I find that many times the backup causes interference with some activities I perform often. I like the fact that the settings are conveniently in preferences and not running in the menu bar.

"Does its job well, when it does."
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.0.2
Pros
Works well for users who never used this app.
Cons
Upgrade doesn't properly update the LaunchDaemon
Summary
Ok, I've figured out the problem.
sorry for the typo: intend should say "instead"
It's going to work just fine, if it's the first time you've installed it.
But if, like me, you upgrade from the old application, using a script intend, it doesn't replace the LaunchDaemon's plist file (to keep the settings) and also leaves a remnant "program: osascript", which keeps the backup from running. So either delete this plist file:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.klieme.TimeMachineScheduler.plist
first, or edit it and delete this line:
Key = Program
Value = /usr/bin/osascript

"Doesn't work for me"
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.0.1
Pros
none that I know of
Cons
I have downloaded this before and did not get it to work. I still can't.
Summary
For some reason, my Time Machine does not recognize this app and therefore does not enable me to set up my own schedulling. I would really like the ability to decide when my backups occur, but this app is not the answer.

"Installs fine, but doesn't back up"
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.0
Pros
Last version (non Preference Pane) worked fine and did its job
Cons
?but this version 3.0 doesn't back up at all
Summary
Like it if it worked, but doesn't at the moment

"TimeMachineScheduler v3.0 Installer BOMBS"
Version: TimeMachineScheduler 3.0
Pros
I can't tell if I can't install it!
Cons
The current version of the installer always BOMBS.
Summary
I have contacted the developer and sent the bombing log. The installer is making an invalid Mac OS X kernel call. Don't bother downloading and installing until this bug in the installer is repaired.
