    "Works as it indicates"

    December 22, 2009  |   By acrook

    Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2

    Pros

It does the job of delaying the scheduled backups as it says it does.

    Cons

Wish it was more flexible and indicated exactly what was happening in the backups.

"Great app to reset Time Machine Backup Intervals"

    December 21, 2009  |   By wlswinner

    Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2

    Pros

The default for Time Machine backups is hourly. This is a problem when I need to take my MacBook Pro and go. This app allows me to change the backup interval to optimal time for me. This saves time and minimizes reduced performance.

    Cons

None I can think of with the current version.

    Summary

There were some bugs after Snow Leopard was installed, but these seem to have been resolved and all is now working smoothly. This app has a seemingly small function, but it can make a big difference. I really appreciate what it does and consider it a must have.

"A nice replacement for Time Machine scheduling"

    December 21, 2009  |   By dodds2

    Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2

    Pros

Pros: lets you set your own backup schedule.

    Cons

Cons: Doesn't seem to access all of the time machine logs.

    Summary

I'm not sure why it only loaded some subset of the backup logs for my system, but I use BackupLoupe for that, so it doesn't really affect me. The scheduling interface and operation are good and work well.

    "simple - easy to use"

    December 21, 2009  |   By JAMingin

    Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2

    Pros

    It works well.

    Cons

since I started using it, my backup icon in the menu bar shows up as delayed if I am not plugged into my external drive.

    Summary

Great if there are big partitions like Parallel's that back up at each interval.

    "Works flawlessly in the background."

    December 11, 2009  |   By lrugolo

    Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.1

    Pros

Once it is set up, it requires no further maintenance. The price (free) can't be beat.

    Cons

Setting up TimeMachineEditor is confusing. It isn't made clear that after turning off Time Machine, it should be left in the off position. (See ?Bottom-line summary? below)

    Summary

The TimeMachineEditor instructions read: ?Time Machine automatic backups must be turned OFF while TimeMachineEditor handles the backups scheduling by itself.? The key word here is ?while? -- I interpreted that to mean that Time Machine should be turned off only while TimeMachineEditor is being set up. What happened was that after choosing the TimeMachineEditor settings, I would repeatedly go back to the Time Machine Prefs and turn it back on. Of course, the TimeMachineEditor settings were gone and Time Machine reverted to its hourly backups. I eventually learned, on your web site's FAQ, that
?TimeMachineEditor handles the scheduling itself and has its own ON / OFF switch (which behaves very much like the one from Time Machine).? I think that this statement should be included with the download info accompanying TimeMachineEditor.

"It simply works. It should be part of Time Machine."

    December 4, 2009  |   By hmumd

    Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.1

    Pros

Simple application that keeps Time Machine from interrupting my workflow and, I suspect, saves back up space.

    Cons

You have to stop Time Machine in the Preference panel to make changes.

    Summary

As someone else said, Apple should have thought of it.
