CNET Editors' review
TimeMachineEditor is a free, simple application that lets you change the default setting for your Mac's Time Machine hourly backups.
TimeMachineEditor lets you set a new hourly interval, or even specify multiple calendar intervals for hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly backups--whether you want daily backups at 2 a.m., weekly backups at a certain time every weekend, or any other possible combination. You can also set Time Machine to automatically back up when disks are mounted or when the computer wakes from sleep.
Time Machine's default setting may be adequate for most users, but for certain situations--for example, if you frequently deal with large files that don't require backup, or if multiple Macs are sharing the same backup drive and your network becomes extremely slow during backups--TimeMachineEditor provides an easy way to get more control over Time Machine.
Publisher's Description
From Time Software:
Change the one-hour interval of Time Machine backups. You can change the interval or decide to make daily, weekly and monthly backups.
TimeMachineEditor does not modify existing system files at all. Instead it handles its own scheduling to trigger Time Machine backups when you want them to occur.
What's new in this version:
- Fixed: an alert tells you the settings are already applied when you try to enable TimeMachineEditor
- Italian localization (thanks to Vincenzo Boiano from VinBoiSoft)

"It just works."
Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2
Pros
This product does one thing, and does it well. Simple, reliable. It makes Time Machine functional for the everyday user.
Cons
No cons that I can discern.
-
"Works as it indicates"
Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2
Pros
It does the job of delaying the scheduled backups as it says it does.
Cons
Wish it was more flexible and indicated exactly what was happening in the backups.

"Great app to reset Time Machine Backup Intervals"
Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2
Pros
The default for Time Machine backups is hourly. This is a problem when I need to take my MacBook Pro and go. This app allows me to change the backup interval to optimal time for me. This saves time and minimizes reduced performance.
Cons
None I can think of with the current version.
Summary
There were some bugs after Snow Leopard was installed, but these seem to have been resolved and all is now working smoothly. This app has a seemingly small function, but it can make a big difference. I really appreciate what it does and consider it a must have.

"A nice replacement for Time Machine scheduling"
Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2
Pros
Pros: lets you set your own backup schedule.
Cons
Cons: Doesn't seem to access all of the time machine logs.
Summary
I'm not sure why it only loaded some subset of the backup logs for my system, but I use BackupLoupe for that, so it doesn't really affect me. The scheduling interface and operation are good and work well.

"simple - easy to use"
Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2
Pros
It works well.
Cons
since I started using it, my backup icon in the menu bar shows up as delayed if I am not plugged into my external drive.
Summary
Great if there are big partitions like Parallel's that back up at each interval.

"It works very well."
Version: TimeMachineEditor 2.5.2
Pros
It's simple to use.
Cons
Perhaps an optional way to install it into the system preference "Other" area?
