    "OK but ..."

    March 3, 2014  |   By bullfrog71

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

Gives you some idea of the temps and precip. Like the 'Alerts.'

    Cons

    Loose Locality settings.
    Questionable temps.
Splash screen ... where did THAT come from? Annoying and unnecessary
The app choices are confusing. When is it 'on' and when is it 'off'? Is it how 'visible 'on' and 'off' is?
Slow to retrieve wx info when the program initiates

    Summary

Not sure that it's worth it. Earlier on it was useful but now I'm not sure and am debating whether (no pun) if I will keep it or not.

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

When it works good app but that is rare

    Cons

Crashes constantly, unhandeled exception error. No support from Weather Channel. Old app was great.

    Summary

Bring back the older, stable app

    "New update ruined it"

    February 7, 2014  |   By dscb77

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

Nice background. When it actually works weather watch popups are nice.

    Cons

Since I updated to the new version a month ago it has worked maybe a few hours. The temperature that is supposed to show in the tray rarely shows anything but The Weather Channel logo. When you open the desktop app it sometimes shows your city but not always, and rarely the temperature. Haven't found a fix anywhere for this so I finally uninstalled it.

    Summary

Until they fix it, don't download it unless you like a useless app.

    Summary

Buggy app. You would think they would have it figured out by now.

"How could C-NET recommend such junk?"

    January 28, 2014  |   By Alaninevanston

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

Just like all the other recent reviews I've read on here; It's good when it works but look out for updates It dies!
Do a re-boot of Win 7 and it goes away!

    Cons

From excellent to pure garbage in minutes with one update!

    Summary

Now I fear the recommendations of C-Net that I used to value!

    Pros

    The old version worked fine.

    Cons

New version freezes. NO SUPPORT whatsoever from the Weather Channel on trying to fix the unhandled exception error.

    Summary

Don't waste your time downloading the app since you won't get help from the developer.

"Great when it works, but that's never for long."

    January 7, 2014  |   By MennoTed

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

When I first installed the app I thought it was great. Simple interface, easy to add additional locations to check. I could see weather at home in a flash.

    Cons

It quickly became a big disappointment. Never lasted more than a day or two and then freezes - sometimes with a MS NET error message, sometimes not. I uninstalled, reinstalled, crash, uninstall, reinstall, etc. ad nauseum. I surrender. Gave it up. Couldn't find anything on the web to solve the problem. (Win 7 64 bit)

    "Latest update broke it good"

    December 29, 2013  |   By rohanlady4

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

    When it works, it's nice.

    Cons

The latest update has broken this well. It's fine when it first loads, but then minimize it and try to bring it back or go into it a few days later (I only reboot every few days) and I get a Microsoft Net error on it. I've given up, uninstalled it and will find something else. Also, spammy ads on it too easy to accidentally click.

    Summary

Used to be a halfway decent program, but since the latest update, it doesn't work.

    "Since update it hasn't worked."

    December 17, 2013  |   By Ricburg

Version: The Weather Channel Desktop 6.0.0.29

    Pros

Easy to use. Can add multiple locations.

    Cons

    Update ruined a decent program.

    Summary

Ever since the update it often locks up at the splash screen on computer boot. Had to manually exit and restart. It also regularly had me re-enter my location and forgot preferences. The final straw was today when it had me do the first time setup again but wouldn't accept my location.
