"More than capable"
Version: The GIMP 2.2.8
Pros
I like that the program is open source. Not laden with software patents, unlike Adobe products. I tried photoshop out and comparing these two, PS wins in features, but I actually won't use many of them. The key features are there in the GIMP. Highly recommend to those who can't afford Photoshop, or who like me, are against software patenting.
Cons
The install should be reduced to ONE file to eliminate confusion. As well as combining all the widgets that make up the GIMP. It would make working easier. Other than that, if you can wrap your head around other graphic manipulation tools, the GIMP is a solid choice

"Annoying, they should really fix it up..."
Version: The GIMP 2.2.8
Pros
It's free and has quite nice features like the star brushes and patterns.
Cons
It annoys you to hell. First of all, it's confusing, when you paste down an image, you have to right click and make it a layer first. Second of all, instead of making it just one simple progra window, it's a whole bunch of windows and that just makes it look messy, not to mention you have to click on each box to open it. But worst of all, it takes way too much just to save one image, couldn't they just make one of those things where you click browse and find where you want to save it instead of a giant box opening and asking you where? Or a drop down list instead of a giant list of file types? This is why this program should burn in hell.

"CRAP"
Version: The GIMP 2.2.8
Pros
Could not get all of the "prerequisites" to download to run this program
Cons
A majority of the programs that is required for this program are linux based only. There is not any documentation for setting this program up on windows. I don't have all day to setup one freaking program. If your program is going to support windows, make sure that all of the pre-reqs are windows based as well.

"CRAP!"
Version: The GIMP 2.2.8
Pros
none!
Cons
downloading file and support files went smooth. The support files which are required to be installed prior to this one was easy. However this file/program does not come with and install or set up file of any sort. I basically got a directory of useless garbage. was a total waste of my time and I wouldn't want anyone else to waste there time on an obviosly flawed file/program.

"very good and its free"
Version: The GIMP 2.2.8
Pros
its free first off. also its very powerful and stable for being free. its good for those who cant afford photoshop and those who dont know much about graphics
Cons
its a bit hard to understand at first. also to install the add-ons is a tough one. and on the windows version it tends to pop up some errors for some reason, but it doesnt effect the running of the program.

"One of the best image editors"
Version: The GIMP 2.2.8
Pros
Open source, so it's free! Though the interface isn't like most, it lets you edit more than one image without having multiple instances of the program running. This is a pretty powerful application as it can do just about anything. Download it, you won't be sorry.
Cons
Slight learning curve, that's it!
