"Good features, very slow on large files"
Pros: Powerful,
Lots of cool features,
Fairly good UICons: Very slow on large files (>500 MB)
Summary: The latest version seems to have broken its ability to handle large files well. Where earlier versions (4.7.x) opened, edited and saved large files (>500 MB) with aplomb, the latest version (5.3.1) has become agonizingly and enragingly slow. read more

"One of the very best plain text editors for many years."
Pros: Robust, easy to use, and at least as fully-featured as any of the alternatives.
Cons: While a minor point, it is clearly designed for use by coders and so those wishing to use it for simple plain text editing often turn off a few defaults to move the coder-specific functionality out of the way. So what, really?

Pros: This is one of those tools thats just good. Once it's in your toolbox you won't be parted from it. No more need be said.

Version: TextPad 5.3.1
Pros: Customizable margins, colors, document properties, and so on. Better than Notepad but not an IDE.
Cons: It serves it's purpose. I use it to just plink around in HTML.
Summary: It is not a professional's development tool but I like to do things "old school" so TextPad is my canvas. read more

"Tried many others, but I always go back to TextPad"
Pros: Easy to customize, lots of templates available
Cons: Would like to see the ability to collapse blocks of code
