"totally satisfied"
Version: TextMessagePlus 6.1.1
Pros
It was exactly what I was looking for-my son has a txt only plan, and had moved out. So now I can stay in touch w/him through my computer for free-loved it! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the program either, very simple. I Liked it so well I am considering the program you actually pay for. Will need to see what the difference is & if it's not too outrageous may go for it.
Cons
can only leave a very short message-but it still is worth what I paid for it (free)
Summary
Thanks to all those people out their that make life a little easier to communicate.

"I found it easy to setup, and it is free!"
Version: TextMessagePlus 6.1.0
Pros
Easy to use, and the basic features are free. Has built in scheduler, and address book.
Cons
There is a small charge if you want some of the more fancy stuff, but all the basic stuff really is FREE.
Summary
Documentation clearly states that you need a POP3 account to work with it, since it uses your own server. It even has a wizard that can help you determine what your SMTP server is. I wish Outlook did that! Also, the schedule feature is really cool, it can send reminder messages to you and stuff.

"Couldn't get it to work"
Version: TextMessagePlus 6.1.0
Pros
It looks like a really neat piece of software.
Cons
I couldn't get it to work with either hotmail or g-mail.
Summary
When you start this for the first time, you are required to enter the smtp address used by your e-mail client. It doesn't work with either gmail or hotmail. I bypassed their verification and typed in the info manually, but still couldn't get it to work. Wish it did, looks like it does exactly what I was looking for.

"Works so Far"
Version: TextMessagePlus 5.3.3
Pros
Works as stated. I just put in a name & then cell phone #, type in message & hit send. Everyone states they get my messages, so I guess it works fine. I got tired of going to different web sites to send text messages so this is very convenient.
Cons
Can't figure out how to put in the subject because even clicking in that space will not get rid of what is there. In that space it says: viahttp//TextMessagePlus.com Maybe you can only type a subject in the paid version.
Summary
I have family members who use different cell phone carriers and in order to send them a text message I have to go to each companies web site in order to send a text message for each individual--this program saves a lot of time--and if you don't know the name of their cell phone carrier (just the cell #) this program will scan each number to find the right company & send them the message. I would suggest that you go to the "options" and check all the cell phone carriers that people you know have and this will cut down on the time the program has to scan for numbers. But since this is not the paid version, you can only check 4 of them anyway. I only need 2 of them because it is only my grandchildren I have to text. It states that you need to register if you want to use more than 4 carriers, but I am not sure if it means you need to register this free version or if you need to register for the paid version. Have not tried to register it. It also states at the bottom of the main screen that you can send longer messages and have tags removed if you register--again, I don't know if this means for the free version or the paid version. For now I am satisfied the way everything was originally set up because as I said previously, I only need 2 carriers in order to send any messages--in the future I may need more if family members switch cell phone carriers. I would recommend this free program to anyone who needs to send an occasional text message & don't want to pay for text messaging service with their cell phone carrier. The recipient of your text messages can reply to you at your email address.

"Does NOT work Great!"
Version: TextMessagePlus 5.3.2
Pros
It uninstalled easily
Cons
Requires you to use an e-mail address and to set up SMTP. Does not work with Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc.
Summary
Don't use this program. Keep searching.I don't feel comfortable giving up my personal E-mail password in a program that isin't made all that well to begin with. Oh,... ALSO,..I ALMOST FORGOT,... IT'S NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They still charge you to send messages. Don;t say it's free then make people pay for your service,.. it's just stupid.
