Version: TestDisk & PhotoRec 6.10
"Simply works!"
Pros: Fast, easy to use, works well.
Cons: Not GUI which might scare non-techs, but simple to use and instructions straight forward.
Summary: This is a great tool! I had to recover a friend's flash drive that croaked and gave the dreaded unmountable\unrecognizable drive, would you like to format. I tried the drive on XP\Vista\Win 7\Linus\Apple and even Dos and all failed. I searched for a recovery tool on-line with the assumption that I'd be telling him "no soup for you" and ran across this app. I ran it against the drive and it recovered 100% of the files, Word, Excel, PDF, Zip, TXT and JPG. The file names were lost, and with some Word files we had to run a repair in Office and the header info and format was flaked, but everything was there.
With it working on the flash drive I gave it to another friend whose CF card was not reading any of the pics from a recent trip he took. Again, 100% recovery.
This is an amazing little tool and clearly one I am keeping in my kit for future use. I emphatically recommend it to keep on hand for any just in case moments.
