"A good solid product"

I like that this program doesn't restrict you to prerecorded, repetitive lessons. Every lesson is generated on the spot. I learned to type with it, it certainly worked. Easy to use, perhaps the "help" could be better but since its pretty obvious what to do it didn't bother me.

Someone stole my Powerbook (*#°ç°n§!) but thanks to RunRev I can use TTTT on a loaned windows PC (despite buying a Mac licence) and at last my typing is progressing quickly whilst have time on my hands.

Wish I could so the same with CS2!

I should have put more effort in to using this program a long time ago, you get out what you put in I guess?!

The RunRev teame were very supportive and I'm very grateful.

"Humiliating localization"

Who did the German localization on this product? A German 101 student?
I know I was one of those who asked for other keyboard layouts, so please do us a favor and let us choose them from the English language section. Otherwise a good app.

"Great for adults and children."

Summary

I started using this app in 1998 when I decided to start using a dvorak keyboard and had to relearn typing. It was a great investment. I've continued to use it a couple times a month, because I find that it keeps my typing speed higher and my mistakes lower. Now my 8 year old daughter is using it to learn to type.

"trying to get to first base here"

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After creating a new user (for my 8 year old son) it eventually brought me to a Finger Placement screen. It appears that there should be some animation etc. here but all was unresponsive (and the finger graphics were pretty ugly, and the keyboard graphics too skinny vertically). I then went into Options and set the program up for background audio and audio feedback, but neither of these worked either. The typing tests seemed to work, but all the 'multimedia' stuff didn't. Also not too impressed with the $26 price tag for *shareware*. I know there is 'professional strength' JumpStart typing software out there for my kids that is priced at $16.95. Why would I buy this...

"Some flaws..."

December 05, 2003  |  By -=Someone=-

 |  Version: Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor 2.4

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was evaluating this software for classroom usage and was disappointed by a couple of things. First of all, when you first set out to type there are about 20 dialog screens filled with various options. There is absolutely no way that a first grader (who I presume is the intended audience) is going to understand or know what to do for even a small percent of those dialogs. A simpler introductory interface path is needed to get started typing (perhaps an Admin setting privileges). Second of all, once all the dialogs were dismissed, I was disappointed by the lack of attention to detail paid to the hands graphics. There were obvious errors in how the hands were drawn.

"the best available"

 |  Version: Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor 2.3.3

Summary

I used TTTT to switch from qwerty to dvorak, and use it every few weeks to touch up and increase my speed. It's not too cloying or childish, but would be fine for kids as well as adults.
