    "Almost flawless"

    September 12, 2012  |   By standuncan

    Version: TeamViewer Portable 7.0.14563

    Pros

Installed quickly, opens smoothly. Complete control of the other computer. I like the fact that you can copy from the distant computer and paste into the home computer.

    Cons

Not many. Perhaps the little pop up at the end of the session thanking me for playing fair and not using it for commercial use and suggesting that I buy the commercial version is a little annoying, but nothing is free and they need to pay the bills, so I can't complain.

    Summary

I use it to help my (alas) computer illiterate but beloved secretary untangle herself from digital black holes she mysteriously falls into. It's great. I also have an old XP at home that I leave on all the time that I tap into with TeamViewer. It has several old programs on it that will not upgrade to newer versions of Windows, so I can open them and run them with Team Viewer on my office, just like I'm sitting at home in front of my computer. This is a great program.

    "Access another computer easily"

    March 21, 2012  |   By fred64ha

    Version: TeamViewer Portable 7.0.12799

    Pros

Easy to use connection, server remembers ID numbers accessed previously. Free version does not seem to have many restrictions.

Also provides a sense of security with a random password to access a system, so both sides need to communicate to establish a connection.

Might be a way around it for unattended use, but I haven't needed to investigate that.

    Cons

Nag screens at closing can confuse grandma on the other end. File transfer is very fast, but that could be my Internet upload speed -- not sure which yet. Also, when working together with the remote user, the screen real estate can be slightly different on larger res screens (over 1024). Neither person notices until you are both trying to read the same content -- that could be off screen for one.

    Summary

If you have family that calls for help, this is a great way to just connect to their system and solve their problems. No more explaining how to click on xxx and right click from left click.

Saves me a ton of time.

    Updated on Mar 21, 2012

On the cons, I meant to say file transfer is NOT very fast -- but that could be my Internet upload speed. Don't get me wrong, its a nice to have feature -- just a bit slow.

    "DONT BUY THIS SOFTWARE"

    March 9, 2012  |   By XzylaCorp

    Version: TeamViewer Portable 7.0.12799

    Pros

none this company is a scam and will stop at nothing to get you on the hook and keep charging you over and over again.

    Cons

This company will attempt to extort more money from you. Dont make the same mistake i made by buying this software... go anywhere else but here.

    Summary

Dont buy this software they will charge you and then not allow you to user tour software unless u pay them more money. I paid for version 6 and they auto pushed TV7 to my computers through updates,, then told me i had to pay another $800 to use the software. I told them i didn't want V7 i just want to use V6 the one i paid for and they refused. Dont buy this software they will block your computers and extort more money from you.

"Not a bad program, it does what it says it can do."

    January 8, 2012  |   By Cool Man

    Version: TeamViewer Portable 7.0.12313

    Pros

Simple to use, with an option to register or to use it without registration.

    Cons

Useless if you are not a paying subscriber.
Continuously disconnected me within a minute or so, with annoying pop-ups to buy subscription or service.

    Summary

I would not rely on this program if I am not using the paid service.
I think it would be nice to allow at least 15 minutes for non-commercial, home use.
I was trying to assist a friend (in another town), and the first time the connection lasted about 5 minutes or less, then subsequent connections were terminated at much shorter times (about a minute roughly, then about 30 seconds), with the annoying, nagging message to "Buy" the service.
I have found better products and alternatives for home, non-commercial use, without interruptions.
Use your favorite search engine and you will find a number of other products that would do a similar function.

For the above reasons (interruptions, short-time connections, nagging), I rate it very low, one star only.

I would think it's a different story for paid subscribers, but I can't justify paying for this service when I might not need it in years.

    "Works for remote support"

    August 1, 2011  |   By fred64ha

    Version: TeamViewer Portable 6.0.10722

    Pros

Lets me see and work with a remote computer(mouse, keyboard). You need someone at the other end to get the codes to start it up -- not a con, just how it works. Its free, you can transfer files (slowly), its portable (so no installation needed).

    Cons

File transfer is slow. When ending the session from the controlling side, the root team player on the other side does not end. I guess that cold be good if you need to get back in.

    Summary

Decent program, works pretty well. Be advised the desktop background will be blanked while working.
