"Missing the ability to add Sub-tasks"
Version: TaskMerlin 4.1.0.1
Pros
The UI is pretty good and intuitive.
Cons
Does not have the ability to add sub tasks
-
"Very poor support"
Version: TaskMerlin 4.0.0.2
Pros
The software might be decent if it worked as advertised
Cons
Expect to pay double the cost of the software if you have any problems with it.
Summary
I purchased 2 licenses of Task Merlin for use in a business I own. From the first time I started using the software all the re-occurring tasks would duplicate. So after about a week there would be about 100 of each of the tasks. I contacted support and they finally identified the bug. Good huh? Except they want me to pay another $200 for the support "package" so I can upgrade to the new version that includes the fix. In my opinion, this is a rip off. Don't trust them!

"Very customizable!"
Version: TaskMerlin 3.1.0.6
Pros
Nice display
Cons
Just for simple task management. It's not suit for more serious project management.
Summary
Suit for simple personal task management..

"Missing a critical feature for Project Management"
Version: TaskMerlin 3.0.0.5
Pros
This is a decent solution for organizing simple projects where tasks can be handle as discrete things.
Cons
The missing critical feature is the ability to make one task dependent on the finish of another.
Summary
Why is this feature important? It's not important for simple projects like moving from Cleveland to Chicago. But if you're remodeling your Kitchen, for example, the tasks are predominantly serial in nature. The Framer can't start until the lumber arrives. If the lubmer delivery is late and the framer goes fishing for a few extra days, the the stat date for the electrician has to move out as well as the plumber, insulation contractor, sheetrock guy and painter. With Task Merlin, you have to manually adjust the start dates for each task when Frank the framer finishes late. A disaster for any complicated project.

"An easy to use product that does exactly what it claims"
Version: TaskMerlin 2.0.0.5
Pros
Very easy to use and intuitive. I had been looking for a simple task manager to help me in my new job and this is ideal. It is not over complicated but has a lot of powerful features if you wish to use them
Cons
A Gant chart type view would be a useful option for a quick review of overdue tasks.
Summary
I work in education and constantly have a lot of tasks ongoing. TaskMerlin lets me manage these easily and without needing to spend a lot of time learning the program.
I would recommend it to anyone with a busy schedule who wants to record what they are working on and get reminders for actions. Exactly what I was looking for! -
"One of the most flexible tools I have ever used"
Version: TaskMerlin 2.0.0.5
Pros
TaskMerlin is the most flexible product I could want. The built in categories, task type, status, priority and impact are completely customizable for my needs. The large list of task types helps me to organize me project more effectively.
Cons
I would like to see the linked tasked have a more cascaded effect, not allowing me to complete a task without finishing the required task before it. A time line graph would be nice, similar to a GANT chart.
Summary
Basically, I have been using TaskMerlin for several years, and have searched and tried other task managers. TaskMerlin continues to provide the best organization of my tasks and projects, without needing several classes, like other products.
Task Merlin starts when I need it in the morning and can stay out of the way when I am busy. It it the first thing I open, and the last item I close. -
"Exceptional Small Project/Task Solution"
Version: TaskMerlin 1.6.0.1
Pros
Dollar-for-Dollar, Unparalleled!!!
-
"Very nice note taking program and task manager."
Version: TaskMerlin 1.5.0.1
Pros
Very easy to use, allows RTF type editing and pasting of graphics within the note area. You can prioritize your notes and set reminders and due dates. Seems to be very customizeable. I only just downloaded it 2 days ago and have been using it at work -- seems to be very handy -- I might just have to register it.
Cons
Nothing yet except the price. :-)
