Publisher's Description
From wincent:
Synergy is a tiny Cocoa application for Mac OS X that puts three buttons to control iTunes in your menubar: previous track, next track, and play/pause; as well as providing you with visual feedback about the currently playing tune. Synergy can display the cover of the currently playing album. The Synergy controls, together with the ability to control iTunes via system-wide Hot Key combinations, mean that Synergy provides the fastest way of skipping between songs when using the keyboard or the mouse; all this without having to switch to iTunes, or access its Dock menu. Synergy is only 5 Euros.
Synergy won't take up precious space in your Dock as it appears only in the menubar. It provides you with ultimate control over iTunes even while you're working in other applications. The Synergy global menu provides you with quick access to recently played tracks and playlists, and the floater displays album covers (automatically downloaded by Synergy, or embedded in the tracks by iTunes) and provides information whenever a new track starts playing.

"irresponsible developer"
Version: Synergy 4.5.2
Pros
cheap - which says it all
Cons
poor communication and deceitful vendor
Summary
do not trust this vendor - will take your money and leave you high-and-dry
-
"Perfect, just what I was looking for."
Version: Synergy 4.4.3
Pros
Menu Bar means always available, simple and easy to use, optionally able to see artist and album covers wherever you want. Ability to see album covers is great for nostalgia.
Cons
Nothing I can see so far.

"Crash!!!"
Version: Synergy 3.5a5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After using Synergy for years w/Tiger. I just turned on iTunes for the first time since installing Leopard last week....and crash! In fact it crashed so bad the pref application disappeared to. I will try again as I really like rating with my function keys from any app. -
"Synergy Advance?"
Version: Synergy 3.1.5b
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I am using Synergy Classic for one thing only - it's built-in floater. Everything else I do on Synergy Advance - much smoother, nicer, more info in the menu item.
The only thing that sucks on Synergy Advance is that it uses Growl and has no floater. If they would just add the same floater to Synergy Advance, we could all move on. Any chance of that happening? -
"Perfect for what it does"
Version: Synergy 3.0
Summary

Synergy is feature-rich, resource non-intensive, intuitive, attractive, and much more. It's the best $5 software package out there. Give it a whirl! -
"FINALLY!"
Version: Synergy 2.9
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
FINALLY Synergy embedds the album art it downloads in to the track file.
Now I can actually have the album art on my iPod! It was SO stupid that it didn't do this before. This is also now the best album-art getter for iTunes. -
"Still Excellent"
Version: Synergy 2.7
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Despite all the talk about there being dozens of free alternatives to Synergy, I have yet to find any other app that includes all my favourite features, and includes them in such a simple and elegant package (I use and love QuickSilver, but it pales in comparison to Synergy when it comes to controlling iTunes). Still the best. -
"Thanks!"
Version: Synergy 2.7

When I saw the developer was working on a replacement for this, it seemed that the universal version would not be coming, but it came, and is a free upgrade to registered users. Thanks! This is a great thing to have, because its very well put together, has many attractive buttons (even "boob buttons" if you want them, and an iPod Shuffle sized button for small displays). And it's updated often, almost too often (heh). -
"Great software, not free but worth it"
Version: Synergy 2.3rc2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Top stability (not a single bug/crash ever in more than a year)
Very easy to use and configure
Good "OSX feel" with Growl-like capacities and Growl compatibility
Low CPU/RAM usage and quick responsiveness
Unobstructive interface (Preference Panel)
Many features, all of which you can can indeed have with other free software but this one is seriously maintained and frequently updated. Still very affoardable (5â?¬) -
"Does pretty much exactly what it says"
Version: Synergy 2.3rc2
Summary

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better iTunes controller than Synergy. Highly configurable, quite powerful, skinnable, hotkeyable for just about any iTunes function, fast, Growl-compatible, and best of all, cheap. For its feature set and the responsiveness of the developer, you won't find a cheaper product. Give it a try.
