"Does not work. NO customer support. Not recommended."

    January 07, 2012   |   By samsks

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

Nice website gives initial warm and fuzzy feeling about the product.

    Cons

Did not install into outlook 2010 toolbar. Created support ticket.
Initially responded and asked for a log file, which I sent, but then he stopped responding at all. I created another support ticket, which was ignored. I requested a refund, and was ignored. Finally had to file dispute with Credit Card company to get money refunded. I see from reviews that some people have had success, but if you do have trouble, he won't provide support, and he wont' issue refund. Beware!

    Summary

Purchased license in July 2011. Windows 7 64bit PC with Outlook 2010. I wanted to sync Outlook Contacts and Calendar with Gmail. Seems like a standard environment, nothing special or unusual. Product claims to now support Contact syncing in pay version, so I bought a license. Installation failed, it does not install properly into Outlook 2010 toolbar. Calendar sync works sometimes, but Contact sync does not work at all. He initially responded to support, but after I sent him the requested log file, he stopped responding at all. Asked for refund, no response. Finally filed dispute with credit card company, and he did not respond to that either, so I got my money back at least. Don't waste your time with SyncMyCal, it just doesn't work properly in at least some circumstances. FYI I have since used both Gsyncit and companionlink for friends and family successfully with no issues. Look there instead.

"DO NOT BUY - company likely gone!"

    December 21, 2011   |   By FunkyMan3333

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

Initially worked nicely (the free version).

    Cons

    - Hangs during syncing to certain accounts
    - No support, help website is down
    - No response to multiple e-mails

    Summary

Unfortunately this product did not work as I had hoped - the program initially worked, and then after purchasing it, the Pro version would hang on syncronization of one of my Gmail accounts (but would sync to the other). I only then (unfortunately) realized that their support was non-existant. The customer support site (http://syncmycal.helpserve.com/) is down, and they do not respond to e-mail. They also don't respond to requests for support from Google Wallet, and I have therefore requested a refund. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

"Used to be just ok, but no longer even that."

    December 15, 2011   |   By l8rgator

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

Best out of all I could find. More options than most.

    Cons

    Just doesn't work.

    Summary

I used to use this to sync from Outlook TO Google only. It was sufficient. It made mistakes, and often got confused about recurring appointments. It particularly doesn't like recurring appointments with exceptions (like deleted occurrences).

Then a couple of months ago it started creating duplicates. Since it runs every 20 minutes, I have 300-700 duplicates of some past appointments on some days. Then it stopped running on start up and I had to start it up manually on every reboot. Then it just started to hang. I tried reinstalling it from scratch every which way possible, but it would error out, or couldn't see my defined syncs, or would hang. It seems to have also managed to corrupt my Google calendar (including leaving recurring appointments in Google where every occurrence is a deleted exception).

I decided to switch to using Google as my main calendar, deleting the corrupted calendars and starting over from scratch. I just recently reinstalled SyncMyCal to try to sync TO Outlook instead to see if that was any better. On the first day I got 15 duplicates of one appointment. On every third test I did of recurring appointments with exceptions or deleting the series, it failed to make the matching change in Outlook.

So, it's more of a frustration than useful at this point. The support seems 90% non-existent. If they answer your question, it's over a month after you emailed them. Last time their reply was ...this is a temporary google server thing. try again tomorrow and contact us if it is still happening... Among the at least 5 separate completely different error messages I had sent them over the course of 3 months from 3 different email addresses, this is the only one they bothered to answer so I don't think I'll be contacting them again.

I am referring to the PAID version, not the free one.

"poor customer service can't sync with recurring appts."

    November 02, 2010   |   By johnrhubarb

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

it worked fine for a while

    Cons

I have been unable to have it load recurring appointments for months now. And for months now the folks at syncmycal customer service are unable to help.

    Summary

wait until you hear that they have fixed the recurring appointment problem before you download. Also be weary of the almost non-existent customer service.

"Failed the first test I gave it"

    August 21, 2010   |   By JSharke

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

    Interface seems friendly enough

    Cons

Wouldn't install onto Outlook toolbar, does not handle recurring appointments properly

    Summary

First of all, this was supposed to install itself onto the Outlook toolbar and it didn't. I could however start and use the program manually.

The most infuriating thing about the world of calendar syncing software is that no matter how sophisticated these programs claim to be, they just fall flat on their faces when attempting to deal with recurring appointments. Syncmycal is no exception. A sync program should be able to handle this most basic functionality of digital calendars.

I get the feeling that very few sync designers fully understand how recurring appointments work, or how exceptions to those recurrences work. I uploaded an Outlook calendar into Google and it created two recurrences at different times for one recurrence that I have in Outlook. I had recently changed the time of this recurrence in Outlook and it appears to have created a recurrence at the old time as well for some reason.

Epic fail. My entire business relies on keeping a perfectly accurate calendar for each of my employees. Within 5 minutes of using this program I had absolutely no confidence in it at all to handle recurring appointments and exceptions, which make up most of my schedules. I tried this along with the less sophisticated looking (and much cheaper) gSyncit - and that program, although seemingly a little slower, copied recurring events over to Google perfectly. I think I know which one I'm going with.

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

worked great out of the box
    no problems

    Cons

I tried several solutions as I wanted to Sync Outlook, Google Calendar and my iPhone - this is only solution that actually worked. It's still working and doing an excellent job. Thanks

    "Status Cannot be Migrated"

    January 06, 2009   |   By CEGiven

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

Works fast. Useful if Google Calendar is your main/control calendar and you're updating an Outlook 2002 calendar.

    Cons

Outlook 2002 crashed on every exit after installing SyncMyCalc. Although not SyncMyCal's fault, Google doesn't support TENTATIVE or OUT OF OFFICE only BUSY or AVAILABLE.

    Summary

    Useful for simple calendaring.

"Outstanding ... Best of the 3 Products I Tried"

    January 16, 2008   |   By wallacemann

    Version: SyncMyCal 1.5

    Pros

Installs easily. Intuitive to use. Was able to do something a bit tricky that I could accomplish with nothing else. I wanted Google to have separate personal (private) and business (shared) calendars that were merged into a single, unified view in Outlook. With SyncMyCal, I was able to create two independent sync agents, one that dealt with all "business" category and one that excluded all "business" category, and sync them between independent Google calendars. So far it works great. It would be better if I did this review after many days, but if I don't do it now (after 1 day) I'll never do it.

I tried CampanionLink, which worked great but lacked the flexibility of SyncMyCal. I like that SyncMyCal is an Outlook plugin rather than a separate application. I tried GroupCalendar by OpusFlow and that was a nightmare, almost destroying my calendar because it did not play nice with Plaxo.

    Cons

So far no complaints. So far it plays nice with Plaxo.
