"Doesn't work"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.26
Pros
Great idea!
Cons
Poor execution - automatic scheduling doesn't work. Useless program if you have to run it manually every time.
-
"great- did exactly what I hoped, quickly, simply"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.26
Pros
straightforward -got me there and showed me so-
-I like the "simulated run" feature
-seems to handle data with care
-nice reports, orderly, detailed but easy to readCons
none so far
Summary
I picked this software for a first-try at Sync'ing my Notebook with my Desktop via personal router RJ-45 CAT-5wire network, using "shared documents" folder in "My Network Places"...
note: OS WinXP SP3 on both machines
- It worked first time - no hassle - no damage - order and simplicity - good sense of understanding, good vantage of functions - nice reports - I cant imagine a better experience.
I only used it for Desktop<>Notebook sync, my archive trees are complex, diverse file types
I know time will test all, but for now, one happy PC user here... thanks CNet and 2BrightSparks!

"Works great, my only Backup Software"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.26
Pros
Best backup and sync software that I've found, for XP. For a free version, it does everything I need it to.
I've got it mostly set to backup my hard drive to an external drive, and I can tailor Profiles to tell it exactly which directories I want it to deal with, and exactly how to deal with any changed files therein. I've also used it to sync a directory between two computers on my LAN. Plus, when it's scanned a directory, it gives a list of what it's found, and you can at that point exclude anything.
And there's online documentation to help you understand anything that might not be obvious, which most all of it is.Cons
I still use XP, so I don't know if there is a version that works on Win7. (I really hope that when I get there, there will be.)
Summary
This backup software has totally filled my need for a Backup and Sync program on my XP. And it has never ever messed up anything.

"Not for me"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.26
Pros
Easy to install and set up.
Cons
Not versatile enough.
Summary
Does backups fine at the folder level, but I could find no way to include/exclude specific files in the backup copy.

"Great Software"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.26
Pros
Fully customizable, you can use this software to do anything you want. The interface is great as long as you're an intermediate computer user. I'm glad they don't try to over-simplify.
Cons
Not too much to improve. The logging and post-sync report could be a little more functional but it's good enough for free.

"A good program to sync files between computers"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.26
Pros
I mostly use Windows Live Sync now, which allow syncing over the internet.
Cons
Local only
