Sync2 for Outlook helps you synchronize Outlook on multiple computers and with Google's calendars and contacts.

Pros

Easy to use: Once you have everything set up, you can let Sync2 for Outlook do all the work for you with automatic synchronization. By default, it's set to occur hourly, but you can also opt for weekly, monthly, or daily.

Streamlined interface: The small interface has just a few options, with the key features easily accessed through large icons at the top of the window. The settings are easy to understand and allow you to set the synchronization to manual or automatic and adjust the frequency.

Manual option: If you feel the need to sync right now, you can't miss the large Sync button on the main window.

Cons

Installation: You'll be asked to choose options during installation before you fully understand how everything works together. In some cases, a better explanation than the one-line description would be helpful for newer users. Also, you will need to go through the installation process on each computer you want to sync.

Bottom Line

If you frequently use more than one computer, Sync2 for Outlook can be a useful tool, especially since it also allows you to sync Google's calendars and contacts as well.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616.

"Beware: Actual cost is ~$70/year"

February 21, 2015  |  By abrahms_jj

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

The software works well. It synchronizes reliably and regularly. Easy to understand interface.

Cons

It will duplicate many entries in your calendar and force you to delete extras manually or pay another $30 for a duplicate killer (most sync software includes 'duplicate killing' in the synchornization software). Expect to pay $70.
I have used the software for over a year, but it automatically stopped working after a year. When trying to reinstall it from the downloaded installer it forces you to download only the latest version, forcing you to pay another $70 if you want the functionality. BEWARE deceptive business practices from 4team.

Summary

The software does work but if you get it from 4team, be prepared to pay $70/year.
There are other options for a lot less... from companies who have open and fair customer policies.

"Created an unbelievable mess"

February 06, 2015  |  By drkitty

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

None I can see.

Cons

Did not sync, but merged two giant pst files and created 80% redundancy with thousands of additional duplicates. Then when you try to delete the duplicate, both get deleted.

Summary

Bought the paid version. Emailed tech support, no response. Caveat emptor.

"Software Problems and Poor Support Attitude"

December 18, 2014  |  By bilofsky

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

Synced my Outlook and Google calendars (when it wasn't trashing them).

Cons

Duplicated over 5000 entries in my calendars, hours before I had to leave for the airport. Support was snotty and wanted to sell me another product to fix it. Then it took them a week to fix the Google Calendar outage in November 2014. Finally, I learned while wrestling with transfer to a new laptop that it's only transferable for a year after purchase.

Summary

Sync2 has given me nothing but aggravation. Their software has created more problems than it solved, and their attitude toward customer support is most unhelpful.

All I asked of Sync2 was to synchronize my Outlook and Google (smartphone) calendars. Hours before leaving for the airport for a month on the road, I copied the Outlook .pst file from desktop to laptop, as I have been doing for years. Sync2 then proceeded to duplicate over 5000 entries in my calendars. This always worked fine with Google's sync, and I understand gSyncit handles it OK too.

Frantically, I contacted Sync2's online chat support. The tech first excoriated me for copying the .pst file, and then offered to sell me their product to deduplicate the entries. In other words, they have the technology to recognize duplicate entries but, unlike Google sync or gSyncit, wanted more money to do it.

Then, in the middle of the trip, Sync2 stopped working entirely. Apparently this was due to a change by Google, so that was understandable. But it shouldn't have taken them a week to get it working again.

Finally, I had to transfer the program to a new laptop. The program displays both a user and an installation code, neither of which is any use in reactivating on the new machine. For a new activation code, Tech support chat referred me to sales, which was closed. Finally I discovered that the original activation code (invoice number) worked just fine. Why the web site is mysterious on this point is beyond me. What I did discover on the web site is that after a year, I won't be able to transfer the activation any longer, but will have to buy a new copy.

Not likely. I can get two copies of gSyncit for less than one Sync2 license. That's what I suggest you do.
