Sync2 for Outlook helps you synchronize Outlook on multiple computers and with Google's calendars and contacts.

Pros

Easy to use: Once you have everything set up, you can let Sync2 for Outlook do all the work for you with automatic synchronization. By default, it's set to occur hourly, but you can also opt for weekly, monthly, or daily.

Streamlined interface: The small interface has just a few options, with the key features easily accessed through large icons at the top of the window. The settings are easy to understand and allow you to set the synchronization to manual or automatic and adjust the frequency.

Manual option: If you feel the need to sync right now, you can't miss the large Sync button on the main window.

Cons

Installation: You'll be asked to choose options during installation before you fully understand how everything works together. In some cases, a better explanation than the one-line description would be helpful for newer users. Also, you will need to go through the installation process on each computer you want to sync.

Bottom Line

If you frequently use more than one computer, Sync2 for Outlook can be a useful tool, especially since it also allows you to sync Google's calendars and contacts as well.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616.

"Seemed ok at first and then WHAM you are in a mess!"

March 29, 2015  |  By aryan.evantec

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

Does have a unique ability to synchronize between computers/various email and calendar programs, but only works initially.

Cons

-Works initially then stops
-Created a ton of duplicates in both contacts and calendar
-Did not sync personal appointments for some reasons
-Would not always sync meetings I had created but only meetings others had invited me too (which is odd)
-Duplicates in meetings often resulted in Outlook errors which then prevented me from editing or deleting my own meetings
-Their "free" patches and fixes often make it worse
-Support is unresponsive
-I could go on, but there is no point..

Summary

I originally used this because I have client computers with email/calendars that I needed to sync with other non-client computers so that I could look at one calendar and see what all my commitments were. Initially it worked OK although it duplicated contacts extensively as well as certain calendar items and would not always sync "appointments" but only meetings with others. Then there was a free patch that was meant to fix duplicates, which then made the duplicates even worse and sometimes 10 entries in my contacts for the same individual.
Then my computers were stolen and I needed to reactivate my licenses on the replacement computers. I contacted them multiple times through their support email and also tried Chat (never worked) and got no response on how to get my licenses reactivated because I no longer had the original machines.

THEN, my license/support/upgrade expired because support/upgrades are only valid for 1 year. I could still use the old software version but the support had now expired. It expired in mid March 2015 and I had tried contacting them several time in February 2015 (before the expiration of support license) and never got a single response.

NOW, I get multiple Sales/Marketing emails from them almost daily marked as "Urgent" and "Prompt response required", bordering on harassment. I then responded to one such email saying I have no interest in upgrading, getting support license etc. and that I am not interested in additional software from the company and my reasons for this due to lack of support, etc. and only THEN did they actually reply to my email saying their support is great "I just have to use it" and that:
"Please note that the latest Sync2 version 2.61 does not have any bugs and it works perfect. Regarding support, we do support via email or Live Chat all our technicians have an ability to connect to your machine remotely and fix the issue if needed. This type of support is more comfortable for us and for customers as well."

I lost it then and was aghast to read that their software has no bugs and works perfect.......as if any software was perfect and had no bugs, that would be any company's dream....but is in no way a reality.

I am not expecting perfect software, nor robust support for inexpensive software, but I am expecting that when I ask for support via email, you actually respond at some point, you help me fix the software I already own and don't try to strong arm me into something that is not a fit. Bad company, bad support, bad products. Would highly NOT recommend them.

"BEWARE!! THERE IS A CATCH! BAD SUPPORT TEAM!"

March 18, 2015  |  By altavistasf

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

none that i could find. waste of money. there is a catch!

Cons

By far, the worst app that freezes all times.
Their support is the worst and most helpless.
They force you to purchase the upgrade + support at the end of the year period, and ask you to renew year after year. If you don't, an irritating message keeps popping up asking you to upgrade .
When chatted with their support to get a solution in deactivating this stupid message since I didn't want support anymore, they precisely told me "you either live with it or purchase the upgrade every year"!
I do NOT recommend Sync and their products. Their apps are weak and their support is a joke!

"Beware: Actual cost is ~$70/year"

February 21, 2015  |  By abrahms_jj

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

The software works well. It synchronizes reliably and regularly. Easy to understand interface.

Cons

It will duplicate many entries in your calendar and force you to delete extras manually or pay another $30 for a duplicate killer (most sync software includes 'duplicate killing' in the synchornization software). Expect to pay $70.
I have used the software for over a year, but it automatically stopped working after a year. When trying to reinstall it from the downloaded installer it forces you to download only the latest version, forcing you to pay another $70 if you want the functionality. BEWARE deceptive business practices from 4team.

Summary

The software does work but if you get it from 4team, be prepared to pay $70/year.
There are other options for a lot less... from companies who have open and fair customer policies.

"Created an unbelievable mess"

February 06, 2015  |  By drkitty

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

None I can see.

Cons

Did not sync, but merged two giant pst files and created 80% redundancy with thousands of additional duplicates. Then when you try to delete the duplicate, both get deleted.

Summary

Bought the paid version. Emailed tech support, no response. Caveat emptor.

"Software Problems and Poor Support Attitude"

December 18, 2014  |  By bilofsky

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.61.2616

Pros

Synced my Outlook and Google calendars (when it wasn't trashing them).

Cons

Duplicated over 5000 entries in my calendars, hours before I had to leave for the airport. Support was snotty and wanted to sell me another product to fix it. Then it took them a week to fix the Google Calendar outage in November 2014. Finally, I learned while wrestling with transfer to a new laptop that it's only transferable for a year after purchase.

Summary

Sync2 has given me nothing but aggravation. Their software has created more problems than it solved, and their attitude toward customer support is most unhelpful.

All I asked of Sync2 was to synchronize my Outlook and Google (smartphone) calendars. Hours before leaving for the airport for a month on the road, I copied the Outlook .pst file from desktop to laptop, as I have been doing for years. Sync2 then proceeded to duplicate over 5000 entries in my calendars. This always worked fine with Google's sync, and I understand gSyncit handles it OK too.

Frantically, I contacted Sync2's online chat support. The tech first excoriated me for copying the .pst file, and then offered to sell me their product to deduplicate the entries. In other words, they have the technology to recognize duplicate entries but, unlike Google sync or gSyncit, wanted more money to do it.

Then, in the middle of the trip, Sync2 stopped working entirely. Apparently this was due to a change by Google, so that was understandable. But it shouldn't have taken them a week to get it working again.

Finally, I had to transfer the program to a new laptop. The program displays both a user and an installation code, neither of which is any use in reactivating on the new machine. For a new activation code, Tech support chat referred me to sales, which was closed. Finally I discovered that the original activation code (invoice number) worked just fine. Why the web site is mysterious on this point is beyond me. What I did discover on the web site is that after a year, I won't be able to transfer the activation any longer, but will have to buy a new copy.

Not likely. I can get two copies of gSyncit for less than one Sync2 license. That's what I suggest you do.

"very poor app and support"

December 16, 2014  |  By yoannhispa

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.60.2607

Pros

easy installation

Cons

I installed sync2 to sync my gmail calendar to outlook, and my outlook contacts to gmail.
* with the free feature, i couldn't sync the calendar from gmail, it didn't give me the option to add it. I thought i needed to buy the full version to enable it (which is what is written). It didn't work either with the full version
* it deleted contacts from my outlook. the "backup" didn't work, and contacts are gone. the backup then was grayed out as the data got deleted at once.
* it kept creating additional contacts with "no name". Even after cleaning up, it was still doing it. It looks it was extracting data from other contacts, maybe also deleting those.

I contacted the 4Team support by email, no response yet.
I called 4Team as i am still within the 14 days of and talked to a very rude person who was covering my voice and shouting I signed a contract, and they won't refund me.

"Unreliable"

December 11, 2014  |  By BirchCrafts

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 1.90.1000

Pros

When it works, it's convenient.

Cons

Wastes a lot of time

Summary

I run two community centres with numerous rooms that are hired by many different clients at a variety of times. It is critical that bookings on both the PC and Laptop synchronise otherwise there is a major problem. Getting it up and running was a total nightmare although support was very helpful in finally getting going after many hours of problems. Unfortunately I never know from one day to the next whether or not the bookings are up-to-date. I spent a long time on one computer yesterday updating all my bookings. Today the second computer will not update to the revised schedule of bookings.
I think it has been a complete wasted of money.

"major bugs makes it useless"

December 10, 2014  |  By fishing8

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.60.2607

Pros

It was easy to set up and what it did syn it did well. I did receive a prompt response when I submitted a big report and that's more than I can say for other small companies.

Cons

Didn't sync calendar events that I had accepted from someone else and were on my calendar - only events that I had created myself. I submitted the bug, they replied with a new version but unfortunately it didn't fix anything. I actually use this for work, which is why I was willing to pay for it instead of trying the free alternatives, so I really don't have the time to spent debugging simple problems.

Summary

I wish it worked...

Updated on Dec 10, 2014

Also created duplicate address book entries when I first synced

"Great product for synching your data."

December 02, 2014  |  By Wasoned

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.60.2607

Pros

What a great product. When you deal with numerous contacts and information, trying to keep them all in sync used to be a real headache. Not anymore with Sync2. A great product that does exactly what it says. Keeps everything in sync between your phone and Microsoft Outlook. Also the customer and tech support is really pleasant and helpful. I Highly recommend Sync2 it to everyone, you won't be dissappointed.

Cons

Haven't found any.

"Not a great product. Creates a lot of duplicate items."

November 26, 2014  |  By Scottyluck

 |  Version: Sync2 for Outlook 1.90.1000

Pros

Fairly convenient way to sync between computer and Smartphone.

Cons

Be ware when your 1 year support and updates runs out. They are notorious for sending out and update that renders your purchased and owned version to render it useless and require that you buy an upgrade to get it working again. One should be able to continue to use the version they have even if the support and updates expire. They sent out an update after my 1 year expired to stop mine from working.
