please guys, this is the best of all the firewalls I have tried... it does everything... my new laptop has vista... and I would like to switch back to using your program.
XP version gets 5 stars, have been usin that for years. Also have been an on-and-off user of Zone-Alarm and PCTools Firewall. Zonealarm does not seem to have an as extensive hijacking protection coming from inside your computer, and pctools is just too beginner-ish and basic for my liking.
Cons
not available yet for windows vista. otherwise this would get 5 stars. it works great on my xp system.

Pros
It is very efficient, easy to use, all technical specification and terms are explained keeping in mind a common user. Gives all the power to monitor and control each and every activity happening on the machine( obviously networking related). And above all it is totally free for a home user. Creates no fuss( as most of the free applications do).
Cons
It is not possible to register the free home user version as the link is broken.

Excellent firewall and very highly configurable in both home networks, larger LANs and Internet. Good for modern wireless systems using MAC exclusion rules, IP rules, confine to LANs with multiple network cards. Very fine tuning of network systems. Been using it for years and if you are behind a well configured router there is nobody going to stalk you.
Cons
This is not new software. This identical version was marketed by Sygate in two guises shortly before Symantec bought them out in 2004 and perhaps they realise that the software is better today than any of their own offerings. This one, I believe, is the free edition so why should you pay for it and enlarge Symantecs' coffers even more. Yes the GUI is a learning curve but click around a bit and discover the gems and total customisation. On first install it can be a little intimidatiing asking for program rules but at least it does ask rather than a preconfiguered ZoneAlarm response. Learn to live with it and it will last another few years yet. If you like to be in control this is the one.

Sygate provides inbound and outbound.Offers advanced program controls.

Sygate firewall is very complex and hard to use especially for beginners.Interface doesn't look good and it's hard to configure.It alerts every time whenever I open a program and doesn't provide much details about it.Couldn't block some leak test techniques.So don't waste your money on this hard to use firewall instead get Zonealarm free or Comodo firewall because they are free and easy to use.

Pros
Sygate Firewall is very configurable, so you can set it the way you want, and its' system resources consumption is minimal making online gaming very comfortable.
Cons
Thge only thing that might be annoying just after you install Sygate Firewall is the 'Notification Messages' option, but it can be turned off easily.
