Version: SuperEasy Codec Checker 1.08
"THIS IS NOT FREE"
Pros: They give you 10 days to deside not to buy it.
Cons: It's impossible for CNET to check each program submitted and some companies take advantage of this. If a program is not realy free, they should not submit it as such. Some of us like to keep our REG files clean. These things ALWAYS leave bits behind.
Summary: I just wanted to check one file that media player says is a codec it does not have.I Dloaded this "FREE" program.Only after the install doeit informme it runs for 10 days without purchasing it. Then It tells me there is an error in the file I amtrying to check. Now I have to uninstall a pogram that I won't be able to use without purchasing. My reg file will be a little bit "no pun" bigger because these programs leave traces so you can't just reinstall them without paying the people who lied about them being free. Again Iknow CNET is NOT to blame here. They can't police every file for accuracy of discription and catagory"free/free o try/ ect." But there sould be some penalty of fine or billable charge to those who try to use CNET this way for free advertisments.
