Pros
I used the Free edition for a year before buying the PRO edition. Main different was the Pro edition has real-time protection, and a few other things. It's a great, easy to use application that updates itself for the newest spyware/virus protection regularly.
Cons
Minor issue, I had an older netbook with 1gb RAM and this program used up alot of memory and CPU. Not too much but enough to cause some programs I used to lag. Otherwise I installed this onto my main PC and it runs in the background flawlessly.
Summary
You have nothing to lose when it's free, and the free version doesn't expire like other programs.

I have to disagree witht your "Free" assessment... I downloaded it, scanned with it and before I even had the option to select removal I was prompted to purchase the Pro version. Could not get past the "buy now" screen...... Although it detected 15 more items than my AdAware and Spybot had just missed, I didn't appreciate the "we'll sell you a lifesaver AFTER you are in the water" approach. I am sure it is a better scanner, but until I can actually USE IT, and see how or what it affects on my machines I will wait.
