Great for avi to mp4 and the like. Even on the lowest settings it had pretty good quality.
Cons
You may have to download a codec pack to be able to convert .avi.

I don't know if I wasn't using the program right or it just doesn't work well with the trail version, but every time I just to convert a rmvb file into an avi the new converted avi didn't work. Maybe it was because of the trail version I was using where it only converts %50 of the file, but even so the people who created this program should make it so the %50 of the video that was converted be playable to test drive there program. Maybe I was doing something wrong, I'm new... a beginner in converting video files to another. But even so, if this program is ment for advance users and your a beginner this isn't for you. Look for a program called WinAVI. I've found that WinAVI is the only program that seems to work well for me when converting .rmvb into .avi videos.

I was able to convert a DVD to mpeg and break the DVD into smaller segments. User interface is manageable.
Cons
There are lots of options on DVD conversion but no easy way to know what the settings do to effect the output file. I also used this to compress an MP3 file but the compressed file had some distortion and I ended up buying a different program from download.com which gave me a better quality file at the same file size.
