"one of the best FREE encoder/converter"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
just drag/drop any file and encode.
I run it on Win7 64 Quad processor, it is amazing.Cons
It installs Iminent toolbar, but after all, it was my choice to install it instead of paying $25 for another payable soft that can't even be close.
After all it isn't any different from most of the free utilities that install toolbar and search engines.Summary
STRONGLY RECOMMEND,
I simply wanted to clarify that my previous post concerns SUPER(C) from eRightSoft which is at this time at version v2012.build.51 a 50Mb file totally FREE

"HAS MALWARE!"
October 27, 2009 | By jleesmith
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
people scream for the last 4 years about a "malware", in reality, it is either a false positive like in here:
http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=32466
or a toolbar which IS NOT A MALWARE as it is not flagged by any ANTIVIR
no one in here speaks about the encoding quality, all posts mention malware, and each new poster adds a second layer and so on..
Updated on Apr 20, 2012
It has absolutely nothing to do with this Super Video converter from Witcobber Software (http://www.witcobber.com) v 5.8 a 1.79MB file shareware for $29.00 -
"Used to be good, now it's filled with malware."
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
It's still free and the publisher gives ample warning about the included malware.
Cons
Installs adware, has a horrible GUI, and really is no longer worth the effort. Look elsewhere.
By the way, it tells you that it includes malware. Excerpt from the aggreement:
"Only the main GUI (Graphical User Interface) of SUPER © is written by eRightSoft. However, this installation package contains as well other executable files written by third parties. Some of these third party companies may recommend or provide advertisements about various services or may even download and install several other softwares or toolbars that replace your current browser's homepage and modify your default browser's search engine. Note that during the installation process your web browser might be launched to open and display some advertisements or related information."Summary
I used to be an avid user of this program. It was the best of its kind, before they decided to go all rogue on their consumer's computers. I am honestly ashamed of the publishers, and I would greatly enjoy them being banned from being a scourge on the internet community.
Another thing to note is that, unlike other software that includes malicious software and toolbars, it is impossible to install WITHOUT it. If you don't want malware, you don't get to install this program. -
"Ridden with Adware, please avoid"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
During its heyday, Super was an excellent no nonsense video encoder. No limits, no free trials, it just did what it said on the tin. I installed this recently and encoded a video just the same as it always did.
Cons
During the install process, it logged me out of my Windows Live Messenger and attempted to install various bits of adware on my pc, to which I duly denied.
However, there's still various bits and bats on my pc following the uninstallation of this software. I've had to remove some adware called 'Iminent' which was very annoying to remove. Shortly after installing, my Gmail alerted me that some Norwegian IP address accessed my account. I've had to change my password here.Summary
Great video encoder, but unfortunately I will never install again. eRightSoft has breached my trust with them and now I won't bother again.

"Not as good or reliable as it used to be"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
Can (supposedly) convert from a wide variety of formats to a wide variety of video and audio formats.
Cons
Download link difficult to find on stupid website.
Installs Babylon language translator, even though I unchecked it.
Fails to convert MP4 video file to anything (reports 'error').Summary
This used to be a damn good program, although always slow to open and a resources hog. The thing is, it always managed to convert files that just about everything else couldn't, so I always used to use it.
I've not done any video conversion for at least a year so downloaded the latest version on my new Windows 7 installation and loaded an MP4 video file in, but it constantly kept stopping and reporting an error, even if I followed the advice given, and even if I changed the output format. So what was once a good program is now junk; it can't convert a format as common as MP4. What makes it worse is it installs a Babylon language translator, even though I had carefully deselected it during installation.
I did some quick research on Google about any highly-rated free audio-video converters and found iWisoft Free Video Converter. Although it lacks many of the fine adjustments of Super, it leaves it standing! It has a basic video editor, plenty of preset levels, and was able to convert the MP4 that Super couldn't, and is less of a resource hog. Also, it was quick, whereas Super was always slow.
I'm about to uninstall Super; I'm finished with it for good. -
"Pretty great for the price"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
A noteworthy selection of formats
FREECons
Little buggy
SlowSummary
I see that other users are complaining of malware but our TMG scanned and found it to be clean. I think what they're calling "malware" are toolbars that, if you're sharp enough to read the things you're clicking on during installation, you can avoid just by unchecking.
I see other saying that you should find something else. Well, I honestly can't find anything else that comes CLOSE to doing what SUPER can while still being free.
Be a smart user and you'll be fine. -
"Malware and dangerous software"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
Nothing positive due to malware.
Cons
Super was used to be a good software which get the job done, but this have changed today, the setup files is packed with full with malware. Once installed, it force installed with all type of unwanted toolbar.
Summary
Super was used to be a good software which get the job done, but this have changed today, the setup files is packed with full with malware. Once installed, it force installed with all type of unwanted toolbar like the babylon toolbar. It automatically install all these uunwanted third party software by force, eventhough it give you a choice on installation but even if you choose not to install it, the setup still install those unwanted 3rd party software. The reason why I describe all those 3rd party softwares as malware because it alter your browser, installing unwanted toolbar & dragging down your computer performance, alter your home page, open up unwanted webpage automatically and etc.
Summary, do not use this software. -
"Good pictures, no sound, no reaction to this comlaint"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
The pictures of my video were of good quality. The process was quick and easy to follow
Cons
The soundtrack of my videofilm was not converted because the film remained soundless. To my question about this manco no reply was followed.
Summary
Until the problem of the soundtrack is not solved, I can only recommend the program for deaf people or for people who prefer silence

"Enjoy, if you want to reinstall Firefox"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
It converts between MANY formats, with MANY options.
Cons
The user interface is contorted. The window always moves back to the middle of the screen. As of 2011, it installs a toolbar with Bing. It doesn't notify you or give you a choice. If you uninstall the toolbar, it will wreck Firefox 3.6 permanently.
Summary
In 2010, it was great. In 2011, it is mild malware - not malicious, but one of those things that inserts hooks into your browser without notifying you. It destroyed my Firefox. I don't yet know if reinstalling Firefox will fix it.
