    "Great Browser"

    May 2, 2006  |   By John Sparrow

    Version: Sunrise 0.833

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is a really clean, fast (very fast) browser, which is a joy to use and which makes the most of the screen.

It is very useful as an aid to developing, allowing users to quickly move between screen sizes. The transparency settings are a Godsend, since they allow you to tweak code whilst still being able to glance behind the browser at the work you are coding - perhaps, say, text from a word document.

    A few minor issues:

    - It might be useful for the browser window displaying the WYSIWYG page to stay at the current position when its HTML in the foreground is tweaked and updated. This is a useful feature, but currentlt changes which are made halfway down a page can be a little cumbersome to repeatedly alter and check.

    - Opening local files by clicking on the files proved problematic. I had to drag the files into the browser window to open.

As I say, these are minor issues. This is already an outstanding browser and the above points are not intended as criticism - and of course it's still beta. It's easy on the eye and so fast. And it's freeware.

This browser has unexpectedly quit once on me. To be honest, I'd expect a beta browser to do this more often than this, so that's actually a good thing! And I'm sure it will only get better.

    Thanks!

    "Impresive Browser Concepts"

    Version: Sunrise 0.81

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I commend you on your forward thinking and creation of features that will be (are) needed in future web browsers. Especially web browsers that web designers use. As a learning web designer that prefers safari over any other web browser I appreciate the subtle improvements you have made. Similar to safari yet more of a web designers version of safari. WOW Features!

    • Ability to view source code as a semi-transparent window overlay. beautiful!
    • Quick access to the css files for web site you are viewing.
    • Take a "Page Shot" of the entire web page (even what is not viewable) into PDF
    • A "Check" menu that will validate the HTML or CSS as well as allow you to edit the code in real time
    • Window size and transparency control.
    I WISH Features!
    • No tabs. Need tabs big time!
    • No bookmark bar. I use my bookmark bar 99% of the time.
    • No way to add bookmarks or at least I could not find a way.
    • No private browsing. One of the main reasons I use safari.
    Good job. Incredible potential.
