    "Light, fast and trustworthy!"

    November 23, 2009  |   By Bj√∂rn Lundahl

    Version: Sumatra PDF Viewer 0.9

    Pros

It is not bloated and takes command over you PC when updating.

    Cons

    None that I know!

    Summary

Well Adobe Reader is bloated and suddenly also takes charges of your PC when Adobe Systems chooses to update. You can not do anything about this but uninstalling the crap-ware. Adobe Reader is, as I said, bloated which is illustrated by opening a PDF file and it will take some time to open it. It will also take some time to install/uninstall their software. Adobe Reader needs a 26,7 MB EXE file to be installed for getting their system working but Sumatra needs only 1,20 MB! Sumatra is fast and efficient. Nearly no waiting time to open a PDF file and it is open source! Thank you very much Krzysztof Kowalczyk.

I was wrong here as it is possible to tweak adobe Reader not to update, but still it is bloated and slow and if it is allowed to update it takes charge of the PC.

"Fast and easy but lacks features."

    November 3, 2009  |   By kool_kans

    Version: Sumatra PDF Viewer 0.9

    Pros

Faster to open PDFs than Adobe/Foxit.

    Cons

No enough features. does not handle password protected files well. sometimes the characters don't show properly.

    Summary

Good Initiative. Lot to improve. As of now, Foxit suits the best for me.

"Free & open source, light-weight & quick to open"

    September 15, 2009  |   By Jack-Bxp

    Version: Sumatra PDF Viewer 0.9

    Pros

If you just want to read PDF's and nothing else, then this is very good. There's not much to say other than it does that job as it should. Adobe is a memory hog, Foxit has adverts and nags you to upgrade. Sumatra is light on memory use with no ads.

    Cons

It's a simple program for just reading PDF's, this isn't a con unless you want to do more than just read them.

    Summary

http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/index.html - That's the page that i downloaded Sumatra PDF viewer from. Someone else said they had problems downloading it on cnet.

"uses little resources. works on slower computers"

    October 2, 2008  |   By tenon

    Version: Sumatra PDF Viewer 0.9

    Pros

Low on resources. Runs fast. installed on older computers and runs much faster than adobe.
Cant seem to download on cnet but i was able to get it at author's site:
    http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/
Use at your own risk. its not cnet.

    Cons

program keeps it simple (both good and bad). perhaps may run into compatibility issue but no problems yet.

    Summary

if you use a slower computer, this program is great. keeps it simple and fast. on the other hand, probably wont notice speed difference on faster computers, and not sure if you would miss all the features on full-blown adobe reader.
