Pros
Very easy. Not really "learn on the fly" but there is a very good help page with short but clear explanations. This program is a very powerful tool.

Summary
I synced subtitles on a movie with 3 blocks of approx 6 sec error in the movie (cut away commercial blocks, I guess). Works great. The edit windows are very clear. You look up the place where the error occurs, and stop at the first line spoken (video is shown in a small window and you hear the sound). Find the according subtile in a separate window. Press "sync and shift next subtitles". That's all. Also very easy to do is: tune the first subtitle, tune the last one (2 separate video windows + 2 separate text windows + audio), press sync - and it is fixed! Also possible is merging of subtitle files (e.g. 2 srt subtitle files for a 2 DVD version of a movie merged to one file for the 1 DVD version). The easiest correction is the shifting of a whole movie; you can fill in a number of hours/min/sec/hundreds and hen press "earlier" or "later" - really easy to do. I worked a few times with it now, and already feel a "pro".
