This has to be the best Sudoku game available right now. I have downloaded a number of others and they just don't measure up. I can't find another that provides so many useful features. Not only can you play alone but you can compete with others online. You can choose to join another person's game or you can host a game yourself. Plus, unlike other online Sudoku games, you know who you are playing! No more racing to the finish blindly! You can monitor each competitor's progress so you always know how far ahead or behind you are. The developer's website keeps track of the rankings, globally and in hosting mode! That means when you host games, you can always pull up your own personal page to see who has been playing and what kind of times they are getting. Oh did I mention the robots? Yes, robots. Say you are hosting a game and you have to eat, sleep, work...you know all those things we should be doing instead of playing addictive online games...well instead of exiting the game you simply walk away and your robot plays for you! Even better, the robot is actually a mini-you. As you play games, the robot learns from you and mimics your moves while you are away! The robots even have their own ranking system! Another very cool thing about this game is you don't have to be a Sudoku genious to be competitive. You simply choose the level you are comfortable with. Choose your game from five levels: Easy, Medium, Hard, Evil (my personal favorite!) and the completely Insane! You might be thinking, "Now why would I subject myself to an Insane puzzle?" Well, because it is an excellent opportuinity to use one of the other great features of this game...cooperative mode. Players can work together to solve a puzzle online. Not only is it fun but very useful when you are just starting out. You can learn so much from more experienced players. How? Well, another exciting thing about this game is the fact that you can meet so many great people. Using the chat feature you can introduce yourself to others and talk about anything from game strategies to the weather. Personally, I have made many friends from all over the world and I am always so happy to get home from work and chat with them while winding down in the evening. I think that is the best aspect of the game. Do I sound like a spokesperson for the company? Well I'm not. But I do feel like I've become part of a something really cool. How often have you downloaded a game and ended up chatting almost daily with the developer and his family?!? That's right..he plays his own game! And he listens! Want a new feature? Found a bug? Got a question? Just ask! Or post it in the game forums, he is always quick to respond. Well, I can't speak more highly of Su Doku Live. Want to play? My user name is Susieiz and I host quite often. Introduce yourself when you join in and if you are new I'd be happy to help you out with game features and even Sudoku itself. But then you don't really need my help, the game has a teacher built in. This is the be all end all Su Doku game for Mac! Gorgeous graphics, simple friendly mac style interface.
It's even helped me solve a couple of the puzzles i was sure were UNSOLVEable!! and it trained me what to look for the next time i get a tough puzzle, and then on top of all of that it has multiplayer which is a whole new game.
Well worth the purchase! Actually it's een well worth the Demo! -

This is a great implementation of sudoku.
It includes several great features: 1.Competitive and cooperative mode. Play against/with your friends/other players using a local network or the internet. This is a really nice feature!
2. You can drag and drop your "daily sudoku" from most popular websites and play it using Sudoku Live;
3. Notes - try several numbers in one cell;
4. Solver and error detection.
Higly recommended!

Sudoku Live includes 2 network multiplayer game modes: cooperative (solve a puzzle with some friends) and competitive (play against other players). Played in competitive mode, soduku is a completely different game.
The single player mode includes great features like a notes system which allows you to right down several numbers in one grid space and you can pick a puzzle from the most popular "daily sudoku" websites and just "drag and drop" it in Sudoku Live!!
Soduku live runs great in my iBook G4.
I really recommend this game! -
"practically unplayable on old machine"

I don't know why a simple game like this should spike the CPU, but it does spike the CPU of my venerable Cube, at least in Notes mode. Each time I click on a number to annotate it, the game takes about a second to respond. This makes game play so annoyingly slow that it's practically unplayable
