"Won't convert Sony ARW on my laptop running Vista SP1"
Version: Stepok RAW Importer 1.1
Pros
It's free and downloads quickly!
Cons
It doesn't work! Ok well it does start up, then it lets you select ARW files for conversion, and then it folds like a paper tiger.
Summary
Definitely a case of "You don't get what you don't pay for"

"Just doesn't work for me"
Version: Stepok RAW Importer 1.1
Pros
None - it would not work for me at all.
Cons
I've tried installing on both a Vista and an XP system to convert Olympus ORF files to JPG. It claims to work with these files, but on both systems it quickly shuts down as soon as it starts to open the ORF files.
Summary
I'm just glad it was a free product...

"Simple converter that gets its job done"
Version: Stepok RAW Importer 1.1
Pros
it WORKS for me (convert .cr2 --> .jpg for photos taken from my eos400d)
convenient-- can convert batches
simple and easy to use
it's FREECons
a bit (but reasonably) slow. just go read a book or type a cnet review while you wait.
Summary
It's worth a try if you don't want to spend 40+ dollars on a converter and found no other application to do the same job.

-

GUI not so intuitive, but easy enough to figure out
Summary
Any tool like this should have a good batch mode. This one delivers!

"Easy to use and does what I need"
Version: Stepok RAW Importer 1.1
Pros
I needed an appication to perform mass conversions of files from camera Raw to JPEG. It does that and it's easy to use.
Cons
It's a little slower than I would like.
Summary
It performs the mass conversions that I need. It's easy to understand and operate. I have no idea about any other features it may have. I like it because it meets my need.

"Seems pretty good to me"
Version: Stepok RAW Importer 1.1
Pros
Cllean design, logical and effective.
Cons
Overly simple? A little slow perhaps
Summary
While the interface is simple, it has scope to get the quality that's in those files out.
In fact maybe it's the simplicity that wins it for me. It seems like clean design, logical and effective.
The interface really does walk you through the process of conversion.
Is it too simple? But then other raw converters seem designed to baffle. Feels a little 'on a rail'. as though there's no room for those creative diversions. Although lets face it, this is file conversion. Not the most creative part of photography
I think this has to be worth a try, for free. It's turning out quality files and the batch conversion might really speed your work flow along. -
"Does not support latest CR2 (Canon Raw Format) format"
Version: Stepok RAW Importer 1.1
Pros
When it does work, it works excellently. The batch image processing takes the hassle out of converting many images to jpg or tiff.
Cons
Only draw back is that it may support all raw formats.
