    "The server is never online."

by Mayx on March 23, 2006

Pros: The menu screen tells you if the server is online or offline.

Cons: The server has not been online one time. I have been trying to get online for four days! I hate doing reviews where I can't review the game...however if the game isn't online/playable you should know.

We have 1 thing we always tell our players:

If you have a problem, ask us first.

Please contact an admin on the forums to resolve this issues. E-mail me at alex@scriptwisdom.com so we can open up your ports and allow you to connect to Steel Warrior, because the server has been up for quite some time now.

This game is free, and, being so, isn't always up. A 1-star rating isn't justified unless you factor in their gameplay, which you did not do. Our gameplay isn't terrible, and, since you haven't even tried the game yet, does not justify a one-star rating. You need to realize that free games are compromises, and that if this were a paying game, it would be up 24/7. Your argument may be that other free games are up 24/7, but this is usually not the case. They either have some sort of advertising on their site or video game, or they label their game as free but charge their players for things such as items, which increases their revenue and allows them to hire more employees to manage a server. This game happens to be run with absolutely no budget at all, and all money spent comes out of our pockets, except for the occassional chances some players are kind enough to donate. We are not a business, and are NOT trademarked or registered with the government. We offer no guarantees, but try and hire enough GMs to cover the various timezones and "nightly gaming frenzy habits" that play our game. We apologize we can not be of more service than what we have offered, but it is all we can do. We have a limited knowledge of all the computers, and, if you do not describe your problem in full detail, we will not always be able to help you. Such is the case; you have not yet stated if you have a router, if you have had any other problems connecting to a game, and have not contacted me. Once again, please E-mail me at alex@scriptwisdom.com and visit the forums at "www dot steelw dot com" for more assistance. We respond to each and every E-mail personally, with no pre-written responses, in full detail, so that we can better server our friends and players. You cannot change your rating, but we still hope your attitude changes toward the game and perhaps you can be one of our great players, and look forward to seeing you and other people ingame, and will support you all the way with a smiling face and helping hand. Thanks again for downloading Steel Warrior, and have a wonderful day.

"I'm sorry, then you must be in the wrong timezone. This server operates in the day from 11am to 10pm or 12pm."

I tried it once in the morning, and the rest of the time was at night. You know...the time MOST people would play a game. Sorry, I mean most people who working class...and not on disablity or welfare.

You need to keep in online all the time.

I'm sorry, then you must be in the wrong timezone. This server operates in the day from 11am to 10pm or 12pm.

We are sorry things aren't working out for you, and that you cannot connect to the server. Once again, we DO post why downtime is occuring. Check posts labeled 'Downtime' or 'Maintenance'.

If you are still unable to connect, your ISP may be blocking this port, or if you have router, it may be blocking it also. Please make sure to disable Windows XP SP2 Firewall, and also any other firewalls you may have running in order to troubleshoot the issue. Also check to make sure your antivirus software does not have a built-in firewall, and that you do not have two firewalls running at once, either. On a router, please disable the firewall it has built-in to troubleshoot the issue to determine what might be the problem.

Once again, there are many reasons that a game or application may not work, and sine many of them are not controlled by the developers, it is up to you to fix them and ---ask for help--- on their forums or technical support locations.

Thank you, and we hope to see you in Steel Warrior!

You put the game up for review/download at download.com. You were making the statement that it was up and running. I don't care what your website said...and I went to it before reviewing it and the only mention I saw to your server and parts were a few messages saying it was coming. That was back in FEB!

As you can see from my history I give game's all the chance in the world but your game wasn't working! I gave it four days! That's three more days than most people who downloaded it. I have only given one other online game a bad review due to the fact the server was down and that was "Black rose online". Which is now been removed from website all together.

I take the "Not helpful" personally. I have a great rating because I am fair. I have done bad reviews before and I admit when I do.

You need to step back and see that your game deserved the one star at the time I reviewed it. What would you review a game that was never online.

We told users such as you beforehand that the server would be offline for a few days, and that we were ordering parts for the server.

Please check our Web site for information before giving a person a bad review, as sometimes data there can prove invaluable. Know that the server has been repaired and will be online tomorrow morning.
