This program not only makes compressing digital photos a simple affair, it also offers a few other tools for working with images. Stardust Image Encoder 2004's interface is easy to understand, with a control panel to the right of the large preview window. If you need to compress files in batches, you can simply use the included wizard. This program only lets you save images in JPEG, GIF, or PNG formats, but gives you a great deal of control over the exact amount of compression with a slider that lets you set the percentage. Even when we set the utility to its highest quality compression, it still made our shots significantly smaller, although applying midlevel compression did affect quality slightly. Stardust Image Encoder 2004 also can resize pictures, add image-based watermarks, and perform a few basic editing functions, such as rotation. If you have a PC full of pictures and need to slim them down, you should definitely give this utility a shot.

  "Good programm but the trial version is useless"

  Summary: The trial version makes a watermark attached to your picture you can't remove. So your pictures will be useless!

  "Image Encoder 2004 handles all my imaging needs"

  Summary: Image Encoder lets me crop, sharpen, resize, and watermark all my images, then save them in lots of formats. I really like the watermark feature, now all my images have my personal watermark and they're much easier to keep track of. Lots of good bat... read more >>
