"Cool, Expensive"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
Integrates into MS Office (automatically) and it works. The "free" scale is a nice come-on. Re-print postage feature and refund policy help to protect you from printing foul-ups. If you get it ask for the free start up kit to get the freebies.
Cons
It is expensive ($15.95 / mo) after the trial period which is discounted by $5 / mo. Refunds for misprints etc require that you send in proof and forms that are cumbersome and time consuming.
Summary
The integration with Office worked well and there were few foul-ups as the user interface is simple enough.
The "free" scale costs a shipping and handling fee which probably covers their cost for the scale. Still a good enough deal for the consumer if you want a scale.
There is a "basic" plan that most home users will find sufficient for about $10 / mo which they will finally get around to telling you about when you are about to cancel.
Given that this type of software would encourage the consumer to use USPS rather than UPS or FedEx why is there a charge for it at all? IMHO USPS is missing an opportunity here.
Bottom line is if you package a ton of stuff this is cool and time saving - BUT it's gonna cost ya'. -

"Excellent and easy-to-use; indispensable to my practice"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
The service is very easy to use, especially with the free digital weighing device. It also allows me to use my own logo and name on pre-printed stamps at no extra charge, which is a nice touch.
Cons
Only downside, which I hope they address soon, is that it does not accommodate international correspondence except for packages; that is, it will print shipping labels but not envelopes (with or without postage) with non-U.S. addresses.
Summary
Overall an excellent service which I am glad to have, but it does need to "expand its horizons" to accommodate international correspondence in this increasingly global economy.

"Works Better Than I Thought Ity Would !!"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
I got stamps.com as a Free-Trial with the free scales as long as I paid postage. The software installed easily and I was able to even print stamps from my computer to the remote printer on the network which really surprised me.
Cons
The only real problem I had was getting the Free 5 lbs. scale to work with both the software and my computer. I required for me to call customer services. The Tech that I talked to was very courteous and knew just what needed to be done.
Summary
I am really pleased with how stamps.com works for me. I operate on a small Ethernet and print to as remote printer which usually means that I have to specially configure programs to use the remote printer, but not with stamps; it automatically finds the default printer and uses it. Printing from the blank stamp sheets is easier than I thought it was. Once entering the serial number for the sheet you want to print from its easy to click on the stamp you want to print from the sheet in the program. If you don't pick a stamp to print it will pick the next stamp in line to print because it remembers which stamps from the sheet it has already printed. The stamps.com software is very easy to use and it comes with demo videos to help those who get a little confused on just how to do things. And if the demos are not enough for you there is even a stamps wizard to guide you completely through helping you from start to finish helping you get your mail ready and printing you stamps, labels and even scheduling with the Post Office to pick it up from your home if you wish.

"Always works 100% and major time saver for me."
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
Extremely easy to install and use even for non computer types such as me. I have used product for over 8 years and only needed to call customer service once.
Cons
I have no cons.
Summary
I am disabled and stamps.com is a life saver for me. I am able to address all my envelopes, pacages and if need be, print stamps for occasional use. The small monthly fee is nothing compared to me having to drive to a post office, stand in line and hope I have enough money on me to pay postage. Makes my life much easier.

"Rip off---BEWARE! Not a "free" trial"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
absolutely NONE
Cons
Deceptive marketing (not a Free Trial). HIGH MONTHLY FEES. Unable to use the service, and then unable to cancel the service. Poor customer service.
SCAM!Summary
I signed up for a "free" trial period. Unfortunately it is not free as when the 28 days (not month as advertised) and you don't close the account, they change you for that month! When I called to complain, the Indian customer service rep told me that this information was in the long welcome email that was sent. After multiple attempts to sell me on keeping the service (even though I was angry at being charged for "free" trial), he said all he could do was to prorate my current months bill (gee thanks for nothing).
I informed the customer service rep that during the "free" trial period the website always gave me an error message. Then got the same error message when attempting to access my account section of the website. This meant that I couldn't see when my trial period ended or change my account type, or cancel. All my emails were not replied to. All the rep said was "I'm sorry to hear that...how about if I....". Also "you are not allowed to cancel your account through the website or via email. You must call to have it cancelled." WHAT A SCAM! SOUNDS LIKE A SLEAZE USED CAR SALES PITCH to me.
Given the high monthly cost of the service, the false sales pitch of a un-"free" trial, unresponsive customer service, faulty website (not fixed over a month), I would NEVER suggest using this company.

"Hard to cancel they keep charging after intro period"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
Seems like a good idea
Cons
Couldn't use the service then couldn't cancel the service.
Summary
Stay away difficult to cancel I never was able to use the service and they kept charging.

"$15.99 per MONTH until cancel-only OK if you mail a LOT"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
Convenient for someone who mails a lot
Cons
Fixed cost of $15.99 /month minimum PLUS whatever you spend on postage makes no sense for light mailing
Summary
Marketing is very deceptive. Nowhere on mailer that came with the software does it explain there is a monthly fee or what that fee is. They imply that you just buy the postage - which, of course, makes no sense if you think about it. The FREE 5 pound USB scale that get to keep costs $9.70 shipping and is worthless without the stamps.com software and a working account. You do get $5 of postage up front and vouchers for $10 of "free" postage but the vouchers can only be sent in once a month after the first free month. The vouchers amount to a $10 discount off of the $15.99 for four months but ONLY if you need to use the postage.
Optimum use: Mail stuff needing $5 worth of postage within the trial period then cancel. Then you are out only $4.70 of the $9.70 to pay for the "free" scale. So you paid $4.70 for $5 worth of postage. No wonder they make it hard to cancel quickly.
I just hope we don't have to cancel the credit card we provided in order to avoid being billed forever.

"If I could give it 0 stars I would"
Version: Stamps.com 6
Pros
Easy way to waste money
Cons
No simple way to cancel
Summary
The only way to cancel is by phone, no on-line canceling. Charged no matter how much you use it. Customer service is the typical, India representative named John Smith who can't do anything for you. I was on hold for 10min trying to cancel this account. They hook you by not allowing you to cancel online. Terrible service, terrible approach to customer satisfaction. I hope they crash and burn.
