    Version: Spyware Terminator 1.5

"One of the best, if not THE best"

by CableguyTK on July 18, 2006

    Pros: Its free.

It has a cool blue interface which is pleasing on the eye.

IT NOW INCLUDES THE FREE ANTIVIRUS ClamAV. It is integrated into the realtime shield, the on-demand scan, and the update engine...by preference, of course.

The update window has been updated and doesnt need to be revisited to update the information.

The program now includes HIPS, which is an awesome security option for integration with the realtime shield. Its a system which gives you control over the absolute first layer of access to your computer. Not too many programs, let alone antispyware and antivirus programs give you HIPS protection. Defense Wall does, but it aint free. Spyware Terminator is free!

They now have a forum which is linked on the homepage. The development team is very fast to respond to posts.

Beta updates come out very often now with full changelogs.

Scans are quick and require minimal amounts of resources.

    Database updates daily.

Cons: Unlike some popular products, like Spyware Doctor and Spy Sweeper, Spyware Terminator does not let you selectively remove items under threats. Its an all or none removal. Either you remove all registry keys/files/folders, or none. Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor, for example, let you pick and choose.

Lacks a powerful frontend for ClamAV. WinClam is nice and all, but one can only hope Spyware Terminator provides one better than WinClam...which I think is in the works.

Like every other antivirus program on the market, Spyware Terminator is no exception when it comes to conflicting with other antivirus products. I was running ClamAV in the realtime shield while running Kaspersky realtime shield and it had a noticable effect on my computer's performance.

Threat information is rather limited. Other spyware programs provide a thorough report of every item it detects.

    .

    .

    .

As long as this stays free, which is expected, it will be one of the top antispyware programs on the market, especially now since it includes antivirus and HIPS. You can't find that kind of combination anywhere else.

    "The Best Freeware Anti-spyware!"

    by Phenom_Deadman on July 20, 2006

Pros: Well there is real-time protection,it has very good database and informative one of hundreds of known spyware and other things...

The forum is helpful and it even has an option of reporting false-positives and sending it to their team...

I found no system-lag or high memory usage....

    I haven't seen this good a anti-spyware in recent times,better than ad-aware,ewido etc etc..

    Cons: None.

"Solid anti-virus but needs a lot of guidance"

by gangsterls on September 15, 2006

Pros: Good anti-virus protection, realtime protection, good scanner, lots of options, free.

Cons: Even on beginner user mode where it's supposed to automatically decide, it still promps you on every unknown process that starts. Annoying but worth it for free realtime.

    "Free real time spyware scanner!"

by Kundar Wolfgang Johnson on September 26, 2006

Pros: I love the fact this software doesn't ask you to upgrade or buy a premium version. In fact they don't have a premium version.

I think it's worth a try beside I rather try this then have spyware!

It picked up a keylogger on my computer so I think it was worth downloading.

    "free and effective"

    by John.Moore. on September 18, 2006

Pros: spyware wise it one of two scanners in my arsenal in the fight against spyware. What I really like is it's real time protection for applications, system and internet guards. I think it's better than spybot in this regard. I really like the application and system control it gives me. This is one time I can say try it, you'll be surprised.
