I Had to format my hard drive, no body will help you get rid of the junk and changes this makes, not Cnet, nor pc tools the maker. They just told me I would have to format. Hope they get into a trade they know a little about. Ron533

Cons
Locks up your PC. Will block internet connection. Can't uninstall product from your PC once you install. Stay away from this product. If you install it on your Pc you are just asking for trouble. I could go on, but not enough time or space.

Slowed my computer to a crawl. Plus it won't allow me to run some programs no matter what I do. Made the mistake of replacing my version 4 exe file with version 5. Now I can't find version 4 anywhere! Help!!!

The update to version 5 is horrific. The number of complaints coming from users of version 5 on their website is enormous. Most common problems with version 5 is that the computer crashes so many times and it takes many hours to get your computer running back to normal. The only way to get computer running again after crashing is to uninstall Version 5 and return to version 4. Common problems include no Internet connection, all programs freeze, you cannot get to your email accounts. I suggest waiting until all the bugs are fixed before even downloading the program. Also check out their website and go to PC Tools Community Form and read the comments from other users before trying this program. Am giving 1 star but it really deserves no stars at all this version.

This software made my pc freeze repeatedly and although I uninstalled it in the first 24 hours and I am still waitng for them to refund my money. Beware!!

Will slow your system down big time. This program eats CPU resources like there is no tomorrow. Even when its turned off, it still has processes running in the background. Once I uninstalled 5, and went back to 4, I noticed a huge difference in PC performance.
Those who are using 4, stick with it. If PCTOOLS don't keep supporting 4, I will not be renewing my subscription.

Scans way faster (about 1/3 the time) and more thoroughly than V4 (found a few pieces of spyware that V4 didn't). AntiVirius integration seems to work good. With the paid version, you can be extremely confident that your system is safe from intrusions. If you open programs durring a scan, V5 scales down it's system uses. OnGuard protection is still extremely effective in that it prevents malicious software from working that may make it onto your system.
If you want a comparable level of spyware defense for free, be prepared to use a half dozen free products.
Cons
If your system only has 256 megs of RAM, this software is probably not for you (I have 1.25 gigs of physical RAM). It adds a bit of time to start up.

I had version 4 and it was excellent. As soon as I downloaded the version 5, the computer would start hanging after 20% of the scan was comp;eted and it slowed down the other programmes. I could not get access to other programmes including my email. I tried deleting temp. files to no avail. So I deleted this programme and am back to version 4.
