Summary
After a lengthy download and install, the program rather strongly recommended that I uninstall my old AVG virus protection. I was desperite to get rid of the virus my daughter picked up on her pc, so I did. Next I attempted to run the update but could no longer connect to the web to get the needed download so the program could run. My connection to the web was strong but the program kept me from connecting to anything. After an hour of battling through sluggish startups and lockups while trying to get this total waste of time working, I gave up and uninstalled it. Like magic I was able to connect to the web on the next reboot and reinstall AVG, which this time was able to identify and remove the virus. To sunnarize, skip this download and search AVG on this site for the free version.

Cons
All you get for FREE is the scan. If you want removal it will cost you. If you need truly free malware scanning AND removal, try Malwarebytes. It works and is FREE.

"Slick-Looking Scam"

Nothing. Spyware Doctor has zero usefulness.

Spyware Doctor pretends to find problems and then pretends to remove them. It actually does nothing except charge you money for "fixing" virus problems that don't actually exist! It has apparently has fooled many people into thinking it's useful.
Summary
On a friend's recommendation, I downloaded the "trial" version of Spyware Doctor. It immediately "found" a trojan and a backdoor on my PC, which it would happily remove after I gave it my credit card information. "Hmm," I thought to myself, "providing credit card info through a computer that is know to be compromised would be pretty stupid of me. I wonder why a so-called professional anti-virus company would suggest something so idiotic?" So, I went to use several other already installed anti-malware tools to clean up the problems Spyware Doctor had "found". Ad-Aware found nothing. Rootkit-Revealer found nothing. Spybot - nothing. Kaspersky, Pest Patrol, ADS Spy - all found my system clean. I checked every line of a scan from HijackThis. I re-downloaded and updated all my anti-virus software and downloaded new anti-virus and anti-malware programs - still nothing. My system is fine; the files that Spyware Doctor claims are viruses are completely clean and belong to several pieces of software I use regularly, and have been installed on my PC for years without problems. The only thing this program did was cause me to waste hours of my time. Shame on PC Tools for pushing such a deceptive piece of crud.

First of all did not find all infiltrations and also does not give the option for a custom scan . Does not want to be uninstalled had to drop to safe mode to finally uninstall it. Slowed vista down to a crawl.....DO NOT BUY THIS

It has very good detection rate,the cpu usage has gone down in this version and has added some nice new features while combining the good features of past...
The pro version succesfully protects you against spyware,malware etc...

Well despite the pros,the cons out shadow them and make you switch over..
1.the free version gives you false positives 9/10 times and ask you to buy pro version to clean it,but in my case and with many other the detected files were legitimate..
2.there's no use of a free version/trial if it doesn't clean the detected files..
3.Still uses quite a few resources...
I will advice you to buy spysweeper if you wanna buy one!
But my advice is use ewido anti-spyware 4.0 free,spybot s&d instead they don't have real-time protection,but will never diss-appoint u..

The software works very well. It removes most common unwanted spyware. It has a nice feature of live protection which further helps protect your computer. It is one of the best spyware removers out.
Cons
The software is not free. Also, it does not find everything and must be combined with other software for decent protection. It takes up a lot of RAM as well which will slow down older computers.

I tried to use Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06 to remove some adware and spyware but they just couldnt get rid of it. I bought Spyware Doctor and WHAM! its gone. Great Program that can bring your computer back from death.

It nags you sometimes but all in all its great.
