Option to "Lock Hosts File"--something I've not found in any other software.
Updates on boot.
Option to lock registry.
Detects and defeats Master Boot Directory threats better than ad-aware.
IMO, Better Anti-Virus than Norton or CACons

Usually works well. However, security protection virus overwrote spyware doctor. Updates not updated

Product is acceptably good. Not as much of a memory hog as Norton or McAfee. However, support is a problem. They make it very difficult to speak to a live person. Serious problems take days to resolve. They encourage you to communicate through e-mail but take their sweet time responding back to you. Not happy with the support

I tried many anti-spy, but I like SD. It detected a lot of infections on my PC, many of them where really dangerous. So I decided to buy it and I found a discount here:

"Could not install new free 8.0 version"

Pros
Older version seemed to do its job OK, including upgrades, etc. An occasional pop up reminded me to upgrade to the paid version, but that's a small price to pay. Also, it slowed down reboots if not deactivated beforehand, but still was worth it.
Cons
Newer version would not install, even after I cleaned my system and uninstalled older version. The older version also left remnants throughout my computer that were difficult to remove.
Summary
Spyware Doctor is too difficult to remove and reinstall, so I will look for a different program.

I found that my other antimalware app (which I did not have to purchase to be able to remove infections) found a lot more infections than Spyware Doctor. Not worth purchasing if it doesn't do a good job, which it Spyware Doctor does not.

Slows my 3.6GHz HP down so badly that my old 900Mhz eMachine will perform faster.
Summary
If you have a 10Ghz machine with 65G of RAM, this may work. If you have a regular machine it will slow it down like a turtle in glue.
