"Do Not Buy It's A Scam!!!"
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
Absoutely Nothing!
Cons
On Aug. 7, 2010 I purchased Spyware Dr v7 for my 3 computers, everything was ok with no incompatibilities with my other security software. A month later Spyware Dr. updated to v8 and then now ALL my security software are NOW incompatable.
Summary
Spyware Dr. v8 is now incompatible with my ZoneAlarm Internet Security and Comodo Internet Security Pro, causing my 2 Windows XP and Vista computers to slow down and crash. It was corrupting and causing my registry to become fragmented, causing other programs to cease function and causing hard drive crash errors. On Sept 24, 2010 I called PCTools Tech Support to see what we could do about the issues. They were every bit as useless as their products are. I was told by tech support that Spyware Dr. v8 is incompatibile will ALL other security software, including ALL antivirus programs. I was told that I would need to uninstall my Zone Alarm Internet Security and Comodo Internet Security Pro and buy the upgrade, PCtools Antivirus and I could not go back to Spyware Dr. V.7. Now that's total load of BS! So even though I still have about 10 months of my subscription remaining, I did the next best thing: I unstalled Spyware Doctor! It appears that PCtools is using a marketing scam and is willing to sell it Spyware Doctor software knowing that it is incompatible will other security products, knowing that you will have to buy or upgrade to Spyware Doctor w/ Antivirus. I will not buy anything from PcTools again!

"This version is Garbage"
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
None, this version is completely worthless
Cons
Completely stalled my computer
Summary
I have used all of their other versions for years without any problems whatsoever. I installed current version and it warned me that it would conflict with AVG anti-virus and it DID ! After installation it rendered my computer useless and I had to enter safe mode and uninstall it. After being a loyal customer for years, I won't renew the license this time around.

"free but not : they will freeze you up instead"
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
will find something nasty which other programs have not picked up on
Cons
to fix any problem you will need to spend money first. It was promoted as free.
Summary
avoid!
If you try to reinstall the program it will instead try to convince you to spend money at useless other products to get it for free for a certain period. Computer freezes up if you consider otherwise. It feels very much like a nasty piece of malware . -
"Don't Buy THis Product"
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
None that I know of
Cons
DO NOT USE FREE DOWNLOAD
Summary
They offer a free download. I thought it was a trial. NOT. They let you download it and then you can't use it....AND THEN you can't uninstall it. They deliberately fix it so that you have to go to their site and buy the program or do a system restore. WHAT A CROCK. I chose to system restore and went with Norton for $10 more.

"BEWARE OF SPYWARE DOCTOR VER. 8.0"
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
I wouldn't know - there were too may problems with the software.
Cons
In repeating what others have experienced, the new program appeared to install new threats when I loaded the new version and then said they could only be removed with the paid version of the software.
Summary
When I realized there could be a problem with the software I came here and found that others were having trouble too. The new version of Spyware Doctor detected 67 threats when I first installed it but I had to get the paid version to remove them. I decided to run AVG to see what it found and it reported only 3 threats - all of them located in Spyware Doctor subfolders.
I'm hesitant to uninstall the software until I have a safe way of doing so - as others have indicated they had trouble uninstalling. I welcome any advice from others that have safely un-installed the new software.
DON'T INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE! -
"Trashed my system. Expected more, got crap."
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
Older 'Free' version was good.............................
Cons
Trashed my system, wasn't compatible with some of my needed software, in fact tried to disable/un-install some of it. Caused my browser to lock up multiple times and would not uninstall, acted instead like a virus itself.
Summary
Expected more from PC Doctor as I really like Registry Mechanic but when it isn't compatible with, and tried to trash the software I rely on daily, then it HAS TO GO!!!! Finally managed to get rid of it but only after nearly having to take it to my computer tech for help. Don't buy it unless you have no other choice. Loved the so-called 'Free' version even tho it had limited functionality, enough that I decided to try the full version. There HAS to be some way of testing the compatibility of a program BEFORE yoiu buy! Have seen 'Trial' and 'Free' versions work but when the full version is loaded, other elements in the program cause probs. Suspect that to do so might be impossible. Hope others have better luck than I did.

"I coudn't upgrade my Spyware Doctor."
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
I like the product. It does a great job of watching your system and letting you know when something needs attention.
Cons
It won't work with Microsoft Security.

"Do not use. Rewrote/inabled several programs"
Version: Spyware Doctor 8.0
Pros
Could not find one
Cons
Tries to install the very adware/spyware I needed it to remove.
Made several programs, including Internet Explorer, non working.Summary
I was forced to not only uninstall this piece of garbage, but also system restore.
The first problem was then trying to install. This program tried to install Google toolbar, which is malicious. Google programs allow adware/spyware through a "back door". When I stated that I did not want Google toolbar, that's when the second problem occurred: it rendered anything regarding internet access nonworking.
Upon testing the program itself... yeah, nice "trial version"... it checks your computer, tells you that you have all these nasty things on your computer but will not "clean" them till you buy the program. A true trial version is a working version for a specific amount of days or uses.
I had to use system restore to get rid of everything this garbage program loaded on my computer and reset the programs that it messed up.
Do not download this, do not install it.
