For the 6+ years I've used Spybot Search & Destroy I have no complaints! Thorough, complete, comprehensive information and updating! Real time protection to prevent malicious malware, spyware, and adware from infecting your computer!
Cons
The manual update is a little cumbersome, but it's not a big deal considering the alternative.......
Summary
Donate. Even a couple of bucks adds up. Spybot Search & Destroy is worth every penny and a million dimes more!

Its free, full featured.
Can schedule scans and updates. Has add ons like file shredder, registry tools.
Some good safety precautions, including registry backup, vault, and some decent in line descriptions of threats and functions.Cons
The interface can be tricky. It can be dangerous especially if you get into the advanced mode and don't know what your doing. On the otherhand you shouldn't be in advanced mode if you don't know what you are doing. .
Summary
Some bugs folks mentioned I never saw, so I either skipped those versions or was just lucky. Ive been using and trusting it for many years and have ithe (Feb 2009 current) version running under XP and vista. Can't ask for much more from a free application ... or a pay app.

"Great antispyware"

This program is sweet ive been using since the end of 2007 and is great! I removed a smitfraud trojan that kept trying to get me to buy spymax a while back ago it removed with no problem. Also sets restore points in windows xp and Me which is nice.
Cons
Well like every product is a negitve and this one happens to be it's tea timer. I don't mind it, but I had to get rid of it on my friends computer as it kept bothering him as he didn't know what to allow. Also needs a system restore for vista users.
Summary
The imunization feature is quite nice as it shields weak areas in internet explorer and firefox from browser hijacker's and other forms of spyware that target's the browser. spybot also integrates into internet explorer and blocks bad ad's and such.

This software version 1.6.0 is really good to protect computers from any threats. It automatically kick out bad command when you install any software products that we buy from store. It really detects it and ask you to delete it.
Cons
Listen guys and gals. Since I installed this version 1.6.2 they have spywares on this version and it goes to registry also. It started showing up in registry and other files when you click the immunication. This is the only software I installed.
Summary
I like this product because it's free and useful for the community. But if the creator is going to put that spywares and malwares and that's of course we don't like it.

The best free spy ware remover I have tried. Having used windows from the beginning and managing multiple networks I have found this the best out there.
Cons
This software does not work across networks must be ran from each computer.
Summary
I have found this product more accurately identifies spy ware and removes it better than any other free software. It also doesn't with out end remind you to buy the "pro" or "full" versions. You get the full version for free!

Very classic..more better and looking good if Spybot-S&D has modern design.

Recommended for PC security besides antivirus. Compatible to use it with free antivirus for PC to protects PC from more threats. This combination makes PC more secure than before...

ActiveX cleaner, bho cleaner, host file locker/editor, uninstall helper, system start-up editor, and several other powerfull tools. Very easy to use.
Cons
Not the best scanner out there.
Summary
Try it for your self. You will like it.
PS: Make sure to turn Advance Mode on to be able to use all the good stuff.
