"Excellent - none better"

Pros
Prevents malware from getting in your computer and finds any PUPs that are in the computer before it was installed. It keeps computers safe from all that crap out there. Best of all - it is absolutely free.
Cons
If I ever find any, I will let you know.
Summary
I had to get rid of a highly touted paid program I had because it missed 17 PUPs in my computer that it had allowed to get in there in the first place. Some were malware. Spybot S&D found and destroyed all. Best program out there by far.

Free with all the malware
Cons
Installed "Claro' and 3 other unwanted programs. Claro changed and redirected my browser without my permission. The Spybot installer installed programs which I SPECIFICALLY said I did NOT want installed by unchecking the boxes.
Summary
I only gave 1/2 a star because it wouldn't let me post a reply without the desired rating of "0". Spybot used to be the best, but something has changed and now it's becoming part of the problem.

Simple to install and use. Works very well. It's FREE.

Can't take care of everything.

I've used this in the past, and was always satisfied with it. I have Norton Internet Security that I am paying for, and it let a number of viruses through. Spybot found some of these, and was able to deal with a number of them.

It's simple and easy to use. Picks up hidden spyware etc that most antiviruses don't.
Cons
It's a shame that it is so old needs to be updated version of this. Also doesn't update on its own.

I can run this program easily whenever I want.
Reports are clear and easy to understand.Cons
Every time |I run a scan I get the same 'all clear' message, and that makes me wonder just how effective the program is if there are never any threats when other programs on my computer report threats all the time.
Summary
I trust the program, but not sure if it is really doing it's job.

Found and removed 4 trojans that none of leading anti-virus programs detected

None except an old Spybot had to be replaced because it said I wasn't the administrator, which my computer confirmed I was

Spybot was the go to removal tool in the late 90s, early 00s, but fell out of favor. I like to think I'm a savvy downloader, but I wound up with Clarosearch anyway (DVDSoft, I believe). AVG anti-virus; spyware blaster; spyware terminator; malware bytes; superantispyware...none of these programs were of help. Out of desperation, I tried Spybot, which I hadn't used in awhile. Bingo! It also found 3 others running in the background. After Spybot did its job, my computer runs noticeably faster. I highly recommend Spybot, and I wonder why the other highly rated virus/spyware programs were so unhelpful.

To "rate" Spybot or any other similiar software you need to conduct side by side comparisons on the same computer system and against the same infection. An impossible task. Me thinks that "reviewers" should post just the facts: What happened, How it happened,and what did you do about it. And then give us a summary of the outcome... good and/or bad. The devil is in the details, such as what O/S you are running and what other protection software do you have on board and is everything up to date! So, IMO, take your time before you post a blast instead of a "review"! Please! Thank you!

Spybot is a dependable product with excellent Read Me Help and Support. Do you need both Spybot and Malwarebytes and Avast and AVG and this and that all running at the same time? I vote no. IMO, more is less. Thanks for listening!
