"Its not improving for me."
Version: Spring Cleaning 6.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Just re-bought this program, under OSv10+.
(Please appreciate, that this program has always needed careful usage.)
Now, what a disappointing waste of possibilities, through lack of thought. A five Star Idea, with two Star results.
Possibly alright for a first time user, with little or un-important information. Although the program would not have been bought, unless there was a users "Spring Clean" build up type problem.
The Monthly battle, with
"Apple operating system's, continuous improvements" which is losing, more and more of my vital, or useful 3rd party programs.
The only way for a professional user to beat Apple is to segregate any new "Apple improvements," safely on a different disk, or separate partition, until possible damage
can be carefully, and safely accessed.
My system unfortunately breeds Thousands of "Duplicates" in Apps, Files and vital Text, information.
Without the ability for "Spring Clean" to specify
Which of various disks, (or all) To Compare, or to sort
Or which of many partitions, within these disks
Or better still, selected files to sort out, within Partitions.
This program just creates a mish-mash of brain paralizing scattered information, too much to be of any use to me.
When there is a lot of information, I find it pretty useless.
In its present form, 'twould have been more usable, if available when I was booting from Floppies on a mac+. -

Stupidly paid to upgrade my old version to v6.0, only to find that the 6.0.1 update wouldn't accept my v6.0 serial number. Have emailed Aladdin several times and still haven't had a reply. I've trashed all Aladdin crap from my system and will never use their products again. -
"Utter and total piece of crap"

"broken contextual menus, finder quits unexpectedly..."

...etc.

What a complete piece of junk!
First of all, this thing installs TWO(!) brightly colored menu extras in the menu bar, as if that space wasn't crowded enough as it is.
And then -more importantly- whenever I try to use contextual menus the finder just quits and restarts, but no menus appear.
Tried reinstalling the app, reinstalling the entire system (10.2.6 & 10.2.8) on two different machines from scratch - to no avail.
This is one buggy useless junk and Aladddin doesn't even make the effort to answer email.
Guess they are to busy trying to get StuffIt 8 to work, which they've been selling for a couple of days now, just to find out that it breaks all applications it unstuffs.
What is going on with Aladdin?
This used to be a great company and now they deliver betas as final releases and provide no customer support? -

I got Spring Cleaning 5.1 with Norton Systemworks. Called Aladdin and have to pay $19.95 for an upgrade even though I just bought System works. I did it like an idiot. Useless software, non-intuitive, and puts in TWO menu bars that I don't want and didn't ask for. $19.95 down the drain. -

Along with some nice things, this was included in a handout from a local sales rep. I paid nothing and feel cheated -- cheated out of a half hour playing with a silly app. I trashed it... manually :-) -

Aladdin usually make cool stuff, I dont know what they were thinking, the interface would make an excellent UNI lecturers tool on how to make a simple program complex and unpleasant.
dont waste your money, you will feel cheated. -

By the time this app has compiled the list of stuff to unistall based on the app you chose, you would have already finished if you had manually unistalled the app itself.
The inteface is not very friendly, its like a bad wizard. Overall, I don't think this app is *anywhere* closed to $40. I would pay at most $10.
