"A fun tool."
Fun to use and easy to use.
This installation will work on Windows 7 but to get the full benefit. Windows 7 users should visit the other C.net download link to get the FULL installation. This is best for windows 7 as it installs the full drivers.
This is a fun tool. But there are limitations. You can take photos with Split Cam but not videos unless you go directly onto the video site(You tune,My space etc.) And to do this run Split Cam first then go onto the site to record you video. You just minimize Split Cam to system tray,so it is still running. But it will play video files but not WMV format. And it will take and save photos on like a webcam does, and save them on your computer. You can also add effects to the videos and photos from your computer by using the color bars to give them a pink or blue tint.Split Cam will also take a close up of your desktop and you can use your webcam in more than one place. I used it on 2 video sites at the same time.As I mentioned Split Cam works on Windows 7 but this short install installs a toolbar and auto complete, which can be removed. But I advise Windows 7 users to download Split Cam from the other C net link at http://download.cnet.com/9241-2348_4-10488365.html?messageID=10637553&tag=mncol;uo To get the full features of Split Cam including additional drivers to get the best benifit out of this. This short install here works but the only difference was that I had to open snapshot manager to take a photo. But on the full install I did not have to,it took the photo right away. And the full install did not install auto complete or the toolbar, which I do not need.I am still trying out Split cam and I would be interested to hear from anyone who know what additional features it has. so now that I have Split cam I will see how it goes. And it is a free tool and so you have nothing to loose by trying it. Andrea Borman.Well,i have had Splitcam on both my Netbooks for 2 days now. All right,it is not very long but it is proving useful in more ways than one.I uninstalled webcam companion 3 as I did not really need it.As i have just bought a Logitech plug in external usb web cam which has it's own microphone as well. this records videos better than my built in web cam. And After Windows installed the Logitech web cam driver,it downloaded logitecks video and photo maker app. which is a bit like Webcam Companion 3. It lets you record videos on your computer then upload to You Tube. But the disadvantage is it does not work with anything other than a Logitech cam.So you cant use your built in webcam unless it's a Logitech one, mine is HP. So if i need to test my built in web cam,SplitCam will show me the webcam andtake photos with it,not videos though.Which is a pity,it would be nice if I could take videos with Splitcam.Splitcam is free but a lot of other programs are not.So I am keeping splitcam now.
