"An elegant solution to keeping up with your passwords."

    November 18, 2011  |   By MnSteve

    Version: SplashID 6.0.4

    Pros

Syncs between devices directly without using The Cloud or any third-party vendor. Easy-to-use and uncluttered interface. Many different filtering and selection options plus configurable categories make finding the entry you're looking for easy. Password generation function is very flexible in terms of length and types of characters included. Several backup options are available. Screen locks after no activity.

    Cons

It's probably my fat fingers, but sometimes I struggle a bit to coerce the iPod to display a hidden password.

    Summary

It is rare these days to find a product that does exactly what it promises to do and has no quirks or downright bugs. A password manager must be secure and at the same time easy to use. This product meets those somewhat-contradictory requirements on both the traditional workstation platform and the handheld platform. It is an affordable and straightforward solution to an everyday problem. I'm impressed, and it's rare that applications impress me.

    Version: SplashID 6.0.4

    Pros

Fast, customizable, support for iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, inexpensive

Not as flashy as some other apps

    Summary

This is the best password manager if you have lots of records to manage and care more about function than slick graphics

"Not as good as the windows version"

    May 25, 2011  |   By bigjoewok

    Version: SplashID 6.0.2

    Pros

Great database. Easy to set up.

    Cons

    Only 1 user id

    Summary

I had the windows version. It allowed multiple users, so my wife and i could keep our credit cards and work ID separate. Now I bought a Mac and the Mac version is 1 user only. However they allow you to sync multiple devices to the same 1 database. If you can deal with only 1 user/database its a great app.

    "Useful but confusing"

    May 7, 2010  |   By mek804--2008

    Version: SplashID 5.3

    Pros

This app is great for keeping track of your numbers. The categories breakdown can make it easier

    Cons

Which app do I need? SplashID or SplashID for iPhone? (I have been using the product for some time now when it was for syncing Palm passwords, but have since switched to iPhone). This is as clear as mud. It seems to be working OK for now.

    Summary

Nice, useful app, but could be a little more clear on what you need to do. Instructions are poor--perhaps a technical writer could help with this?

"SplashID 5.2 not compatible with Palm Desktop v 4.16."

    March 2, 2010  |   By Mimidog

    Version: SplashID 5.2

    Pros

Nothing to recommend. It did not work and apparently is not recommended for the Palm SplashID Desktop.

    Cons

Installation of version 5.2 locked me out of SplashID Desktop.

SplashData Support at the Splash ID web site was unable to resolve the issue (Ticket ID: #17202). In fact, in their opinion, "... there is no version 5 for the Palm SplashID Desktop."

    Summary

I am not sure why version 5.2 is recommended by the CNET program. It is not compatible with SplashID for the Palm Desktop. BTW, this is not the only incorrectly recommended software upgrade from the CNET TechTracker program. I have received several recommendations for software upgrades that are clearly not applicable to my applications or operating system.

I do not think CNET TechTracker is quite ready for prime time but I will continue to work with it, ... cautiously! When it works it is great but when it doesn't it can really mislead the user and waste a lot of time!

    "Finally! and works great"

    March 26, 2008  |   By baturjan

    Version: SplashID 4.11

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I saw today that SplashID 4 for Mac OS X was released, a long awaited upgrade. The upgrade was only $9.95 for me. Before installing, I exported my SplashID database in the desktop version, and then uninstalled version 3 (including the Palm conduit in MissingSync). I also deleted everything off of my Palm. I then installed v. 4, and hotsynced my Palm a couple times. Then I imported the previously exported SplashID file, and hotsynced again. It all looks good and works fine. I'm running OS 10.5.2 on a new MacBook, and using MissingSync 6.0.3 for Mac / Palm.

This was the last application I was using that wasn't universal. It finally loads like it should, fast. The only thing I had to correct was some of the icons were changed.

    "Great Product"

    November 17, 2004  |   By Saint Rowan

    Version: SplashID 3.12

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
In looking at some of the previous comments I need to voice a different viewpoint. First off, the current version as of Nov 17, 2004, is 3.12 and that's the one that downloads and installs. The installer gave me no problems under OS 10.3.5 and starting up SplashID shows it is version 3.12 as stated. Second, while I agree that it would be nice to have a username/password autofill for websites, Apple's Keychain usually does this automatically if you're using Safari. Third, the purchase and upgrade prices are really quite reasonable and I have no problem with this product's cost for what you get. Do you want it to be cheaper? Of course you do. Do you want it free? Sure you do. Is it worth the price. Yes, it is. That said...

SplashID does a great job (and is the ONLY program I know of in) mirroring my sensitive data on my Mac and my Palm (a Treo 270). I've never had a single problem syncing. That alone was worth getting version 2 early in 2003.

The version 3 desktop has flexible field naming, easy to use input, and has never crashed (actually version 2 never crashed either). Whever I create a new account I just make it a habit to start-up SplashID, create a new "Login" record, and then 2 years later when I've forgotten my user data I just go back and there it is, whether at home on my Mac or somewhere else with my Palm. (I used CryptInfo which had a lot of flexibility but never had a desktop to mirror my passwords.)

So I don't really know what's behind everyone else's problems with installation or version numbers but this program really works great. I use it nearly everyday to keep track of logins, registrations, subscriptions, pin numbers, and ISP data.
