"Noooooooooooooooooo"
Version: Splash Lite 1.8.1
Pros
It's free but so is lint.
Cons
Won't install useably on xp. Probably because of needing some c++ visual redistributable. I managed to install it while avoiding the adware/spyware but it wasn't easy, it was very misleading. I also had to remove some viruses the next day. I suspect they came from the Splash Lite installation attempt. After installed it simply wouldn't open.
Summary
No thanks. I'm using BSplayer.

"Spyware without asking"
Version: Splash Lite 1.8.1
Pros
Could not run at all. Spent whole evening uninstalling other programs installed without warning
Cons
Trojan horse package. CNET should take it down and remove their obsolete review
Summary
I wish I had listened to the other people who wrote about what a bad mistake this program is.

"Splash Lite is great. Period."
Version: Splash Lite 1.8
Pros
- Fast Working
- Plays all the popular HD files
- Low CPU usage
- Great and stylish interface
- DVB-T playback supportCons
- Few supported subtitles types
- No Picture2 like in PRO version.
- Only DVB-T playback support. No recording and time shifting.Summary
This is a must have software for every person who enjoys a Full HD quality videos. All the rumors about putting toolbars in Splash Lite are true, but who doesn't include them? Big companies like CyberLink? Try to download their trial, it's full of additional installers. How about CNET downloader? Oh, hello toolbars and other crap. It's normal process of monetizing free software and you all shouldn't be so much surprised. If you consider yourself as intelligent person you should easily get through the installation process without installing anything else but Splash Lite - a true great HD player.

Summary
Must have for all HD video fans and HD camcorder users (switches video clips very fast making watching clips very easy). Packed with downloader with toolbars, if you read carefully it is easy to skip installation toolbars.

"What happened to my Splash Player"
Version: Splash Lite 1.8
Pros
I had splash player on my computer for months, and beside the lack of options it still had great audio and video playback,
Cons
One day i had to re install my windows 7 O.S and one of the programs i wanted back was my splash lite player, but something went wrong, all of a sudden my CPUs and my RAM were running crazy, my ram was maxing out to 100 and my cpu were all over the place, so once i un installed splash lite, everything went back to normal, i dont know what happened, it worked great when i had it on my last O.S, i did notice a program that installed it self without my input when i was downloading splash lite, so i don't know if it was spyware, malware or a virus, but i would stay away from splash lite for now
Summary
Stay clear of splash lite, it use to work great, but over time something went wrong when i had to re install the program

Cons

"Ruined great program with adware / malware"
Version: Splash Lite 1.8
Pros
Program is probably the best h.264 / mpeg decoder out there. Low overhead, supports most popular graphics chipsets for hardware decoding including ATI, intel, Nvidia. Even with non-accelerated decoding less overhead and less CPU time than other programs
Cons
New version is now loaded with adware, and malware. You can click no install of the adware, but it asks you again for another malware yes no question. Apparently you have to click no twice. Unclear why a reputable company is packaging a good piece of software with terrible malware. Not only will it install toolbars for translation, even if you click no, it will install a background malware rootkit that is not possible to remove without reinstall of OS, or possibly malware removing software.
Summary
Go find an old version that doesn't include malware and a rootkit, otherwise you will be sorry.

"version 1.8 downloader bundled with adware"
Version: Splash Lite 1.8
Pros
Good player
Cons
version 1.8 downloader bundled with adware, could not avoid installing adware, tried to unckeck options but no luck.
I aborted the installation and had to remove manually the toolbar from internet explorer and firefox. Very sad.Summary
Exactly the downloader is not bundled with adware but the downloaded stuff with it is.

"Good HD player"
Version: Splash Lite 1.7.1
Pros
Good for playing HD video on low performance systems (netbooks, nettops)
Cons
Crashing constantly, instable
Summary
Fast video-player for HD content on budget systems (netbooks, nettops) with VERY simple interface. Hardware accelerating. Big minus is instability in Windows 7, I tried to use them on 2 clear just installed OS and it's crashed on start or after playing video.
