Version: SpeedItup Free 4.95
"Looked to be great my I was a little disappointed"
Pros: What worked was easy to use. In fact it could not have been easier.
Cons: * The problem with the updated version and the old version on the screen at the same time.
Summary: This started out seeming it was going to be a great utility and then it did something that I either did not like or was a coincidental error. First in add/remove programs it is label 4.90 but other places it is version 4.95. When you install it there is a update available already, I did it. This might have been my first mistake, now runnin version 5.32 (I think) I started using the utility and it appeared to be working fine and then about half way through with the hard drive optimization it puts a dreaded pop up on the screen saying that the upgraded version only works with a registered copy and at this time the program shows the 4.95 (with I was not supposed to be running because I did the update is displayed on the screen. Did I want to register? I sayed no and the screen that popped up stopped responding and the version the was doing the optimization also stopped responding. I cancelled it and removed the software.
* Asking for registration details in the middle of the run seems more spyware (ish) then I liked.
in my opinion a program should want registration information should be the beginning or at the exit of the program. The exit is nice because that is a great time to ask for feedback, pretty much it is the best time to get your good reviews if the product works while it is fresh on the users mind.
I guess the bottom line is I removed it and was disappointed.
