"Intel problems"
Version: Sound Grinder 2.5.6
Summary

Great application, but no Universal version. Contextual menu does not work with Intel based Macs! Can't wait for native Intel version, bring it on! -
"Easy to use and supports various file types."
Version: Sound Grinder 2.5
Pros
I've used a number of different audio converters at work, and this one tops them all. The UI is clear and uncluttered with a lot of irrelevant graphics. A total pleasure to use...and a great price to boot.

"Very Nice"
Version: Sound Grinder 2.2.1
Summary

This is a very nice application that works great. It converted my QT sound mov files to wav. I couldn't find anything else that would, not even iTunes. It looks great, user friendly, and super solid. I just can't afford the 39.00. I do think it's over priced for what it does. I may buy it for under 20.00 if it goes down. Maybe I'll get lucky and find something that does the same for less or free. -
"Indespensible tool for batch processing"
Version: Sound Grinder 2.1
Pros
The 'maintain folder structure, Rapid Convert and variable normalize are SG exclusives (to my knowledge) and are now must-have functions in my workflow. Product support is superb. Overall, a winning app and a caring developer make this worth every penny.

"Extremely happy user"
Version: Sound Grinder 2.1.1
Summary

I put off buying SG for awhile since it did duplicate the basic features of some of my normal tools. Two things changed that, convert while maintaining folder structure (useful for Audio Ease Altiverb users) and Rapid convert which I now would not want to live without. Add to this the new variable normalize and this app has become indispensable to me. I use it everyday with hundreds of files and have had no problems, all smooth operations here (OS 103.7 and 8). When the Rapid Convert contextual menu plug-in first became available it did not work on my particular system. This gave me the occasion to experience their support which was 15 out of 10! Timely responses, detailed information and superb follow up. My every question since has been met with this same level of quality and attention. I am always happy to find both a must-have app AND a developer who understands the importance of customer support and strives to provide it with complete dedication. I am very happy with my purchase. -
"Call the sitter"
Version: Sound Grinder 2.1
Summary

I recently needed to convert about 600 mp3s to ogg. I decided give the task to Sound Grinder, because it was one of the few programs for mac that would do the conversion directly (without having to go to .aiff first)
Installed the program, dragged the folder of mp3s into it's window, set it to ogg, hit convert. Easy enough, time for bed.
Upon waking, I found a error message over the conversion window. Uh oh. "Outout format not supported" Huh? Whatever, I hit "okay"
Then comes the bad news. Turns out this "error" occurred 16 files into the batch, and all other conversions had ceased until I manually hit "okay".
And, I put error in quotes because the erroneous file, was fine. It produced a complete and playable ogg. So what exactly was the problem?
So yeah, I had to babysit the entire conversion. As, this glitch happened about 50 more times. Tip for the developer, if an error isn't fatal, have the process continue and generate a report afterwards. Nobody wants to babysit long batch conversions. It defeats the whole purpose.
Many hours later, after the conversion completed, I had 600 ogg files, with no id3 tags!!!! The didn't carry over to the converted files! That's a bit of an oversight, ain't it?
So, I drag my folder of untagged oggs and Sound Grinder into the trash. Sorry. This can be done much more painlessly on a Linux box. Which I ended up doing.
To it's credit, Sound Grinder has a clean, easy to use interface. And the converted files, sound great. But until these issues are fixed, I can't recommend it. -

it locked up every time, completely randomly, and makes me force restart my computer. i have never had to do that on this machine and am very displeased, especially considering i tried to use this 3 times, wanting to give it another chance, but every time, it locked up my system completely. -

Thanks Monkey Tools, for the authorization change.
My 2 cents,
Sound grinder itself is worth the $39 and the customer service is great, making it a steal at this price.

this software will only run if you download "anti-piracy" software called "pace". i was already disturbed not to find the ".ogg" format on the webpage-preview of this strange company; and was utterly put off when i tried to launch the demo of this piece of ****, because it immediately prompted me to download extra stuff from this "anti-piracy" website. NO THANKS!
all my stuff is legal and I'm not going to have some sound grinders interfere with my privacy!
regards.
