"Great output, but can not save projects"

    March 19, 2012  |   By arnybarnes2

Version: Sothink HD Movie Maker 2.2 build 205

    Pros

Converted several types of High Def media with ease, speed, and reliability

    Cons

    Can not save your projects!
Imagine spending an hour building a Blu Ray with 100 movie clips, arranging the order, titles, fonts, etc. Once you burn your disc and close the app, all that info is gone!!

    Summary

Great if you occasionally burn a blue ray with 1-3 movies, but lame if you need to make one several small clips, since you can not save your project data.

"Does everything you need for a great price"

    August 24, 2011  |   By efox31

Version: Sothink HD Movie Maker 2.2 build 205

    Pros

Nice simple GUI, customizable output size and quality, option to design your own menus (or use a number of installed templates). Ability to burn your results, in blu-ray quality, to a standard DVD.

    Cons

High CPU usage when converting files

    Summary

The one word I would use to describe all of Sothink's products (I also use their DVD Ripper and Video Converter) is reliability: they handle any file you throw at them and the output quality is always superb. I must have tried dozens of video rippers/burners/converters over the years but these are the programs I always use now. My last project failed in Nero (after many hours of processing!) but worked perfectly with this program. For the price, you can't go wrong.

    "Unable to test trial version"

    July 26, 2011  |   By frankthetank22

Version: Sothink HD Movie Maker 2.2 build 205

    Pros

    Looks like a simple interface

    Cons

You have to buy it before you can test fully.

    Summary

The trial version isn't only time-limited, it also only allows you to burn 5 minutes of video. You don't know this until you go through the trouble of downloading, installing, and then trying to test it by recording your first video. Considering the fact that most video software programs have problems when converting or burning large video files, the 5-minute limit seems ridiculous. You will not be able to fully test this program unless you pay for it first. Don't waste time downloading/installing.

    "good intentions yet extremely buggy"

    May 25, 2011  |   By forenzsick

Version: Sothink HD Movie Maker 2.2 build 205

    Pros

the interface is easy to use and understand.

    Cons

despite meeting system requirments getting the program to run on windows 7 is touch n go. there are major compatability issues, some with audio conversion [ specifically ac-3 ] some with drive and media recognition and very poor customer support.

    Summary

Avoid this program at this stage in its development, its verry buggy. i tried it on various systems running different os and memory configurations and had no success what so ever. I did comparisons with other software that made similar claims and had success so i feel i was able to form a true un biased opinion.
the unfortunate side to this is the poor customer support- slow response times, carelessness and limited options can be frustrating.
there is nothing to bridge this gap so to be "stuck" with useless software does nothing for anyone.
