"Makes my old iMac well, New Age"
Version: SonicMood 3.2.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
First, my disclaimer: software author has my positive comments on his website, with my permission. I tried this, paid for it, use it. No other connection with author.
I am really happy with Sonicmood. I have an oldish iMac that is running several things at once, but can detect no slowdown from SonicMood, or if any, less than I get with my favorite internet classical music station running. Real music sometimes captivates my attention, while SonicMood is just good background stuff for me.
I find the sounds simultaneously soothing and invigorating, seem to make it easier for me to focus on tasks or put up with the boredom of sorting through long columns of figures or whatever. I also have my "relaxation area" near my iMac and find these very zen-chime like.
The only delay I've found is when I want to quickly turn off the sound--as when I'm being invited to an iChat session--it seems to take a couple of seconds for the "pause" button to go from gray to useable.
I warmly recommend a download of this, as it has a one-month free trial. I found it quite worth the price.
Oh, my credentials, for what they're worth: in my "other" life, I'm a psychiatrist working in some pretty stressful settings. I really value being able to calm down while reading my email.
And I've already had a couple of friends who commented how nice it was to be near my computer with SM playing--and then I was able to gloat that it was just too bad they were running Windoze instead of a Mac...

"Fantastic app, great developer!"
Version: SonicMood 2.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have worked with this developer for the last few weeks, and he is extremely open to new ideas, and VERY quick in implementing those ideas. The program works as advertised and can be customized to your own tastes. Add some pictures that you find relaxing, choose a mood, and forget about it. It runs very smoothly in the background, and helps create a very calming environment to work in. I personally love the option of showing chimes along with the pictures. This product will continue to evolve and grow, so get your ideas to the developer. Nice work! -

"For What It's Worth.."
Version: SonicMood 1.0.6
Summary

I'm a psychiatrist and in this age of multitasking and being put on hold way too long and often, I find the sounds very relaxing and soothing. I'm also impressed with the friendly temperment and responsiveness of the developer. Good work, son! (only kidding). -
"Virtual windchimes... very soothing."
Version: SonicMood 1.0.4
Summary

This is a remarkable audio application that can simulate windchimes and a variety of other gentle sounds.
The only thing that detracts from this application is the garish user interface. This developer has obviously never read the Apple Human Interface Guidelines as it uses goofy non-standard buttons, jaggy aliased artwork and Comic Sans (Comic Sans?!?!) for the application typeface. The interface reminds me of shoddy Windows shareware.
Once the developer adhires to common Mac interface guidlines, I would gladly fork over the shareware fee.

"I like it..."
Version: SonicMood 1.0.4
Summary

It would be great if I could record the sounds into an mp3 file. It makes a nice background to break the silence when working on code. I wouldn't sit there and listen to it directly but as a background filler it works great. -
"YUK!"

You cannot be serious. Soothing?? These annoying, clearly computer-generated sounds did anything other than soothe me! I like the idea alot, just not the noises included.
