Version: Software Virtualization Solution (SVS) 2 SP1
"Powerful, Powerful, Powerful Stuff!"
Pros: This is an awsome program and a powerful, yet so simple idea. It's kind of like trying out aquarium fishes while they're still in the plastic bag from the pet store. You just drop the bag into the aquarium and see how the new fish will look, and if you decide you don't want them for whatever reason, lift them out and they are gone without a trace. No worries that you might have brought home tainted pet store water or overly aggressive predator fish.
This app is very similar, except when you're using a layered app, you can't tell at all, no performance issues or any such. Your system stays mostly clean, as does your registry.
If you have problems, you can either completely get rid of the offending program or reset it, whichever is appropriate. This is a hard to beat idea developed into a very stable and powerful program. And FREE too? Get it, and if you don't understand what it is or how to use it or why, LEARN that, then get it!
Cons: In spite of what has been said, there have been a few programs I installed in a layer, then deleted the layer (after deactivating it) and installed the program again, and it "remembered" it's install path. This should not be possible unless some registry info slipped through to the base system somehow. Also, a few programs still had their start menu folders visible even after the layer was deactivated. All this means is that the program isn't perfect yet (or maybe it was something I did/didn't do). But it's still more than worth it and garners a very strong recommendation.

"This is going to be everywhere soon!"
Pros: I first heard about SVS when it won the pcmagazine award. I didn't believe it could do all it promised. It seemed to simple. Who has ever heard of turning an application on or off? So I tried it. SVS just blew me away. It works great for personal use. I can use OpenOffice.org without having to worry about hurting Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. It is wonderful! I am starting to turn all of my programs into a .vsa format. I canĂ¢Â?Â?t wait until everyone is using this. It will make everything so much easier.
Cons: My only wish is that this was everywhere!

Version: Software Virtualization Solution (SVS) 2
Pros: This program ROCKS!!! If you are in the habit of downloading trial applications and installing them on your computer, this is a MUST HAVE. I have been using this on my computer and the whole program is captured with it. This makes it easy to remove the WHOLE program if, and usually when, it isn't what you are looking for. Much easier than trying to uninstall them in Windows. It looks like there are no residuals left either, registry entries and all. It works for drivers too! I am using it to try out NIC drivers on my unsupported version of Windows. IT'S FREE!!!
Cons: It doesn't work with all apps. But I found that when it didn't work, I could still remove the messed up install with no apparent harm to my system.
Next time I have to reinstall this is the first thing I am installing! Maybe this will help me keep my system clean.

"Kiss dll conflicts goodbye and gain better control of your machine"
Pros: If installing software packages as large as office without the reboot sounds appealing, just wait...this is only the beginning. I have SVS on my machine, and not only could I run Outlook and Lotus Notes simultaneously, but I can also, at the click of a button, reset any application and within seconds to restore normal functionality. This has come in handy several times with Outlook and Word.
Cons: The only bad thing about this download is that it didn't come out years ago.

"Perhaps the most useful and interesting software I've used in 20 years"
Pros: SVS lets me keep a clean base system while still giving me the advantage of having all the software I want available in an instant. I especially love the ability to run multiple different versions of the same application.
Cons: Occasionally I need to tweak an app to work well with SVS (but that's part of it's appeal to me).
